Since Bill doesn't work on basics and he is pretty much the head honcho at Mattel for WWE, I feel like basics will be put on the back burner. I think the days of seeing "first time in line" figures in basic form are done, except for NXT figures. I expect basics to just completely be repaints using headscans that we used on elites first.
That might be exaggerating, but I can see this happening.

Thanks for the pics. I did not know it.....holy crap. I always stayed away from Basics, but saw custom possibilities, with this drop in quality and the increase in price for the ZOmbies/Monsters....what's the point in spending anything on them.
I do wish Mattel would invest in making things better, not worse. They desperately need new face scanning tech and I know this is not about that, just another thing that gets me upset and seeing this line stagnate since the inception. Still no ankle rockers and so on.

Like so... You forgot to point to where they added the extra swivel articulation in the elbow to replace the swivel they removed from below the shoulder ball.

I liked basics for the fact that we could part swap them with elites. There are also some really good basics that are better than a lot of elites.
With less articulation now they’re worthless IMO. I don’t buy the cost cutting crap explanation. We’ve got stuff like the “zombies” and “monsters” lines that are probably eating into the basics budget so Mattel decided to cheap out on the basics.
In the end, don’t expect us to pay the same amount for less articulation. Cool if you do, but I’m done with basics.

They (Zombies, Monsters, Basics, Elits, HOF, Retro, BP, NXT) have nothing to do with the other lines budgets. If one is cancelled then that money doesn't go to the other lines Mattel will find something else to create with it. And you guys do know if Mattel raised the production budgets for Elites and basics then retailers would charge more for them, because Mattel would charge them more for the added cost to produce them.

But if they costed a little cost on packaging on basics that would help. Plus the money cutting on articulation is something that doesn't work good for me. Because like stated before, you have to make new molds that need the pieces and that takes money to make. Plus they still have to get new machinery because putting the arm mover needs people as the same as before. The line is going down. I used to be a fan of the line but now I wont.

From my days lurking here when it a Jakks centric forum to current mainly Mattel, there's one thing that remains the same. People hate change. Not every change is for the good but people will not give it a chance with during a highly dramatic fight. Took people quite a while to give Mattel a chance after taking over the WWE license. Even though they were falling out love with Jakks, folks refused to try something new. It's adult collectors raising the biggest stink about the basic figs changes. The main target demographic aka kids don't give a crap.

I only buy basics for Divas and Suited figures. I don't play with my figures so I could care less of the lack of articulation

I don't mind the articulation change too much either, but then I don't really play with the figures (...mainly display them and keep them MOC).
I can see why it bothers some people, but Mattel are probably in a no-win situation: either keep the price the same and alter the articulation or keep the articulation the same but raise the RRP.

Just got my first removed articulation basics in....... I wanted to wait before I gave my opinion...... Basic 80 Sasha and Swann Basic 79 Nia Jax and TJP Basic 78 natty and Shan o Mac After a few minutes of light playing and move setting I just want to say this is garbage and terrible for play purpose, display wise it is ok they seem to stand up the same arguably a little easier but honestly I feel like we’re one cost cutting measure away from being no better than basic justice league toys -_- Huge fail on Mattel’s part here, this definitely won’t make selling basics easier.

Movement of atriculation doesnt bother me....its the removeal of it. I see nothing wrong with the arms but not having boot articulation or thigh swivel on divas is garbage.

I like the Basic Justice League figures more than the Multiverse figures. If they had Batman's articulation as well as the DCUC hips and ankle articulation they would be the perfect Justice League figures. Hell I don't even need the outward movement on the hips if all the JL figures had the wide base Batman, Superman and Aquaman have.

It's too bad because I always liked the original basic ankle over the elite ones. All of my basic collection ankles functioned the way they were designed. The elite ankles are never guaranteed to move as some are completely frozen like my legends Steamboat. That and the elite ones feel so fragile.

To your point, they’re not bad especially comparing to the multiverse figures I was so upset with those figs I started collecting when they first came out and was disappointed to see the ab crunch only existed on 1 out of like 3 figures so it seems like I was paying $20 for some great figures and some really bad ones, at least the basics all stick to the same formula, it’s annoying having a solid marvel collection (legends) wwe (basics and elites) but not much for DC out there done well enough

Oh wow no doubt, in the new ascension battle pack 50 I believe it’s konnor that has the boot articulation and the Viktor does not very weird I wonder why they did it that way
