So I just got my James figure and I noticed he has both his Offspring tattoos...how did Mattel pull that off? The bands logo and album logo are both on him.

Maybe because it’s just an image from the cover and not the full thing, along with it being a different color? I don’t know much about copyright laws so it’s just a guess for me. I’m actually wondering too lol.

I was pleasantly surprised by this today when I received this fig. Now if only they could get away with some more of Jericho's ink.

CM Punk figures all had band logos and art too.
And yet they couldn't figure out how to work around the Pepsi and Cobra logos or Jericho's tattoos.

Blah I don’t think the punk figures had his bouncing souls tattoo They did have the minor threat sheep. Pepsi and the cobra logo are a bit more we’ll known and more expensive than some punk band logos. Same with Jericho, all his logos are of very well known huge bands.

I forget, if it does, it’s not on the top of his bicep facing forward. Even then, they’re still a relatively small band when comparing to Jericho’s choices. All this time, it may not even be due to copyrighted logos, maybe punks were just to intricate...that or offspring doesn’t care or they are allowed to use them for offspring

His Pepsi & Cobra tattoos were 2 of the easiest ones. His chest tattoo used five different colors by the end

Maybe they simply had no idea they were band tattoos lol That's what happens when you get a tattoo that would only be cool in the summer of 1999 and never after.

You could say that a tattoo for The Offspring was no longer "cool" after 1996 since they jumped from Epitaph to the majors, "selling out" after the success of Smash. But maybe Ellsworth likes them and doesn't care if it's "cool" to people on the internet.

If you think a band isn't cool because they signed to a larger record company then your opinion doesn't matter lol and I don't think Ellsworth cares about those people

I know people that are still mad about Green Day and The Offspring to this day. Don't be upset or mad that they wanted to get paid and have more exposure. It's like yeah you saw them in a hole in the wall bar with twelve people for five bucks at the door, and now they are playing to massive crowds. Get over it. They were never "yours" to begin with.

It's like whenever anyone left ECW and they were so evil for wanting to actually get paid and not take extremely stupid bumps and weapon shots every night. And then whenever a big name that had been in WWF/WCW like Bam Bam or Sid would come in and they'd all lose their minds

I dunno, maybe they were cool with it. It's not like they're not well-known, just listen to any alternative station on the radio and they'll most likely play them. maybe someone ask em on twitter?
