A solid D. Raw seems to be on an endless repeat. No real compelling stories. But there have been some decent matches and SD has exceeded expectations.

Y'all tripping if you're not giving WWE an A
They fired on all cylinders
In-ring product has never been better
The Velveteen Dream exists
We are blessed

B - my first Mania was amazing, but they persisted to long with Jinder.

How about this for an answer. I am 36 and stopped watching about 15 years ago. I have a 12 year old son (target demo) I started watching and raising him to love WWE. We watched ALL the ppvs until this year. We've been a WWE network subscriber since day 1. He doesn't find it interesting anymore. There are times I ask him what's going on. He says "I dunno I haven't watched in a couple months. It's super boring."
So I ask what is their market then?

I don't see how anyone could be surprised at the poor grades.
Cena beat Styles for his 16th reign and it lasted two weeks. Tied Flair and it was a transitional reign
A guy that most of the adult audience won't accept "retired" a legend 99% of those adults loved
Mahal and his horrendous title reign
Wasted the men's money in the bank case
Wasted Rumble winner
Rumble was booked piss poor
Brock pretty much squashed Joe and Braun
They let Bayley get mic time
Screwy Survivor Series finish that doesn't seem to be leading anywhere
There were times this year I would skip 2-3 weeks of watching and when I tuned back in I couldn't tell I missed anything.

D
The biggest issue from 2017 was that Raw’s main event was on hold for the eventual Roman/Brock showdown. Samoa Joe and Braun Strowman has a ton of momentum at different points this year but he WWE never pulled the trigger on either of them. There both still over, but not to the extent that they could have been had the WWE ran with either of them.
Over on SDL, there main event was on hold for the Jinder experiment. While I was a supporter of it at first, they never booked Jinder to be a credible champ. Every match was the same with interference leading to a Jinder win. Because of this, AJ and Owens had to take a back seat to Jinder and the US Title scene seemed to be the main draw for the majority of the year. I feel it would have been a better year for SDL had Jinder been the US Champ while AJ and Owens battled for the WWE Title. While the AJ/Owens matches never seemed to live up to the hype, they still had a big match feel to them.
2017 as a whole seemed to be stuck in a holding pattern until WM34.

A -WrestleMania 33 was one of my favorite wrestlemanias ever -Shane vs Owens Hell in a Cell -Summerslam Fatal 4 Way -Lesnar vs Joe -Lesnar vs Styles -Cena vs Reigns -Hardyz return -Kurt Angle return -Balor vs Styles -Usos vs New Day HIAC -Usos vs New Day Summerslam -Cena vs Styles Royal Rumble -Cena vs Nakamura -War Games -Undertaker I disagree. My opinion- - Looking back on it WM33 was average, been mich better Manias, even in recent years (31, 30...) - Shane vs Owens again, nothing special apart from Shane's spot that we'd seen before and Sami's heel turn - Lesnar vs Joe was a letdown as Joe was squashed in like 5 mins - Lesnad vs Styles was good, didn't think it was as good as some say it was though - Best moment of the year, fair point - Angle returning and having HOF induction was great, fair point - I feel the same about Balor vs Styles as I feel about Lesnar vs Styles - Ok, fair point - Again, fair point - Best match this year, 5 stars in my opinion - Cena vs Nakamura was a decent match on SD, nothing too special tbf - Yes, War Games match was awesome - His retirement was memorable, nothing else this year was You also didn't mention how Balor has been booked horribly, the IC title went for months without being defended, Jinder had by far the worst World title run in history, 205 Live is plain dreadful, Bayley got buried, Shinsuke was booked badly, Rumble was won by Randy Orton (nuff said), MITB was wasted, Women's MITB was won by a man, we have seen the Universal title about 3 times this year and was held by 2 part timers or that we had an awful storyline about Jason Jordan being Kurt Angle's son. Just my opinion. 😂

2017 was a great year but if I was going to nitpick I would highlight these things.
Brock as Universal champion.
The Miz hogging the IC title and not successfully defending it without cheating.
Most of Smackdowns roster rotting away in the locker room with rare TV time.
AJ and KO feuding over the US title instead of the World title.
The American Alpha. Seriously those guys should've been ruling the tag division but instead we hardly ever saw them.
Apart from all of that 2017 was a pretty good year.

Not going extremely in depth, I'd probably put the company about a low C based on the events I saw. A few moments and several entertaining matches, but nothing really that would stand the test of time. A lot of stuff that didn't live up to its potential, a lot of talent that went overlooked and weren't positioned properly on the card. Talent that were booked to be highlights didn't cut it for me: the conclusion of Goldberg-Lesnar that led to Brock's championship reign; Cena getting his win back against AJ Styles, then Creative as much space between the two; Cena's championship reign being essentially nonexistent except on paper and replaced by the dreadful Orton-Wyatt feud; Mahal's miracle reign that involved interference at every turn (which good ol' Shane doesn't seem bothered by in the least except when it involves Kev and Sami); the aforementioned Shane McMahon being a staple of SD's main booking the second half of the year despite him occupying a noncompeting role in the show's management; the piddly Shield reunion; the romanticizing of Reign's climb back up to his eventual rematch against Lesnar at 2018's Wrestlemania, including him (apparently) retiring Undertaker at Mania in an unremarkable match, gaining an elusive victory against Big Match John in a dreadful match, and the eye-rolling, groan-inducing claim the WWE is now "his yard". Lackluster booking led me to not see a good chunk of their programming as "must-see."

To those giving it an A just for the good wrestling matches, every year in wwe had great wrestling matches. Even 1995, which people seem to hate.

C because it feels like most of their top stars regressed via crap booking and too many rematches.

Pros: UK Tournament NXT roster getting its depth back after the 2016 purge Kurt Angle returning (and being on telly every week) AJ Styles being WWE Champion Jinder Mahal being WWE Champion The Hardy Boys returning WM33 in general Woken Matt Hardy Alexa Bliss Sami Zayn finally being discussed in the main event Main roster debuts of Nak and Roode Barun Strowman vs the world John Cena making history by becoming a 16x champ Bray Wyatt finally winning the WWE title Cesaro and Sheamus Rusev DAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY Mae Young classic Undertaker's beautiful send-off
Cons Jason Jordan being Kurt Angle's son - killed a great tag team and this poor lad's singles run forever Shane McMahon being the centre of attention The Shield Neville leaving Aries leaving Kane returning on the wrong brand and then being pushed despite being close to retirement Cruiserweights having zero momentum Paige came back Sin Cara's crappy new masks Roman beating the Undertaker at WrestleMania.
Nearly double pros to cons, so I'm going to give the year an A.
