So my girlfriend was recently diagnosed with gallstones but unfortunately has to wait some time for the surgery (no date as of yet) and so it's doing a number on her in every way tbh. I was wondering if anyone here had any experience with it, any advice, ways to soothe the pain down or any dietary help too? We've obviously read up on it but personal/first hand help would be very much appreciated too

Take apple cider vinegar and Manuka honey every day. Try to avoid fatty foods. Something close to a baby food-consistency diet may be best, at least at first.
Manuka honey's available at Vitamin Shoppe and fancy supermarkets.
Get extra leafy green vegetable for digestion- but not salad, salad's actually not too good for digestion. Try asparagus, spinach, kale, brussels sprouts, and broccoli. Oats and brown rice seem pretty helpful, too.
(Also, and it may not have to do with stones, try to cut out canola oil. It apparently coagulates very badly in our blood.)
If you're really hungry- and you will be on this diet- Panda Express-style non-fried chicken dishes seem okay, after the pain has subsided for a period of time.

I sympathize with her. I had gallstones & had to have my gall bladder removed. I was told by my doctor to cut down on my consumption of red meat. I had a hamburger a few days after the surgery & was sick for about 4 days. I became a vegetarian afterwards.
I wish her a successful operation & a speedy recovery.

Is she obese or diabetic? Is she taking any antaacid or acid suppression medication?
Pectin contained in apples can help but dont be expecting miracles, however you may as well give it a try. Take an apple a day, include some apple cider vinegar with her meals. Take two tea spoons of cider vinegar in a glass of water before a meal as well.
Best of luck!

I can empathize with your Girlfriend, as I had my Gallbladder removed this past October.
A low fat diet is a must, cut out as much fat as possible. Calorific sweet treats should also be cut down on too, find healthy alternatives (rice pudding). When it comes to meat, eat lots of Chicken breast. Stay active, but don't over it. Try and stay as stress free as possibe (this is what bought on all of my pain, once I had changed my diet)
Between my first attack and my operation I lost 42 pounds. She can go back to eating her regular diet after the operation - but don't be suprised if her tastes in food changes. (I can no longer eat very fatty foods, as they make me feel sick and Cheese leaves me with a very bitter / sour taste, and i've always loved cheese).
I wish your Girlfriend all the best, and hope it doesn't take to long until she is well again.

All of the advice in here is pretty good. Until surgery, I am (mainly) just a firm believer in eating healthy and not being TOO overly active, but maintaining as much normal "movement" (stuff that wouldn't be considered exercise) in daily life as usual. I have gall stones but some hurdles before I can have them dealt with and it's no fun. An ex of mine had her gall bladder removed and I'm probably on my way there. Not sure what to even expect, but I empathize and wish a speedy recovery! The pains can be ing terrible sometimes. I also poke smot and it helps in a lot of ways. Not going to lie. It is medicinal where I live, so it's not like I should have to put it in code, but this site is funny with certain subjects. Not sure if that is an option, but it may help subdue pain.
