I've heard horror stories about putting the kickpads back on, E47 especially! I'd love some feedback on this, before i go to the trouble.

If the kick pads are giving you trouble then the easiest way would be to pull the bottom pin of the knee joint and do that way.

It was pretty hard for me, I had to keep reheating the kickpads until they came off, and it was even harder to put them back on.

To me it was easy. Maybe depend the figure. Good luck.

First, put your water in a microwaveable dish. I put mine in for 4 minutes. Then stick the boots only in the water when it's done heating up. I usually don't soak the whole boot but just about a 3/4-2/3 submerged. Let it rest there for about a minute or so and they will pop right off. Once they are off, throw them into the dish of water and let them sit while you put the kneepads on.
Alternatively, I have been able to bend the foot so that the toe is pointing as completely downward as possible. Then using the hot water, heat up the pads so that they are actually pliable. Once you can move them some, slide them on. It will take some work but you can do it.

So here is my concern with swaps. I feel like mattel is using cheaper paint and I'm always afraid of messing up paint apps when I swap parts using hot water. Specifically brown eyebrow paint and white paint apps on kickpads. So with my e47 n e51 Ajs I risked it and was able to pop the kickpads off and add the knee pads with very little damage.
When I got the e56 I was hesitant to do this cuz of the white paints apps. This time I threw the knee pads in a cup of hot water for maybe 30 secs. And I was able to easily pull them over the kickpad and up to the knee. Way easier and no worries about messing anything up.

It's super easy. I put kneepads on an AJ last night. Here's how I did it:
- Microwave some water in a mug for three minutes.
- Stand Apollo Crews and AJ Styles in the mug.
- In about a minute take Apollo Crews out of the water. Pull Apollo Crews boots off, and slide the knees pads off. Try to remember which way they went on. Pop crews' boots back on while they're still heated.
- By this point AJ has been soaking in hot water for just over a minute or so. Take AJ out of the water and pull his boots off. Slide the kneepads and pop the boots on. That's it. You're a master customizer.

I know it’s easy to do and I’ve done it myself, but we shouldn’t have to. The figures need to start already coming with them. I damn near had a heart attack when I saw the TRU Network Spotlight actually came with them.

Is AJ a one piece or two piece kick pad? One piece is easy. Two pieces is a nightmare

It was insanely difficult for me to get his kickpads off and back on. Didn't even attempt it on Elite 51, and with 56 I'm going to just do it at the knee because getting the pins back in is easier than these new pegs.
With Elite 50 Rhyno, I took his boot off and when I tried to get it back on, the pin is actually it's own piece inside the leg, so when I tried to get the boot back on it actually pushed the peg inside the leg and made it pretty impossible to get the boot back on....I got it on enough, but I'm not super happy with it.

I have put kneepads on elite ajs with no trouble at all.Hair dryer works everytime for me. Pop the boot off when plastic softens up then put kneepad on and pop the boot back on.

Is that what you guys mean by 2 piece? I think they are referring to the fact that the kickers are either one whole piece as in the ones I've seen on most Daniel Bryan figures or two pieces like most of the shawn michaels where you have the actual "boot piece" and the "calf piece" has part of the kicker molded to it.

Do you have pics? I didn't know they changed the elite parts as well as the basics Also, you guys sent one message after the other saying different things. Does AJ have one or two piece kickpads?

I think the problem people are having with removing and attaching the boots are they're not applying enough heat. If something is stiff and won't pop out or pop back in, it's back in the hot water for another minute or so. I've never done the hair dryer/heat gun method, but soaking in hot water always has done the trick for me. Literally only takes about 5 minutes to do the whole process.
I've removed the boots on my elite 57 Styles a few times because i was dissatisfied with the kneepad covering up the Japanese symbols so I used smaller black kneepads from a basic Austin.
The only problem I've ever had is with a couple hands fitting into the newer arm molds. Specifically my list Chris Jericho because I wanted to do his tattoos without the pins exposed. Lesson is not mess with hands unless I absolutely must.

Pretty sure they're considered one piece, unless you count the ankle articulation as another piece. I took a bunch of pictures of my elite AJ's last month. Maybe you can see for yourself in the pics. forum.wrestlingfigs.com/thread/349673/elite56-aj-elite51-comparison-pictures

It’s very annoying and difficult.
But ya know...if they actually included them to begin with we wouldn’t have this issue....
