I was watching the Toys that Made Us on Netflix. In that show they have an episode on Masters of the Universe toys (he-man). In the episode someone says that they believe the downfall of He-Man toys was the She-Ra toys. They stated that little boys now saw their sisters playing with the same kind of toys and using the same lingo as the He-Man/boys toy line so it made the line unappealing to young boys.
That immediately made me think of these new fashion dolls Mattel is making.
So what do you all think?

I thought girls didn't play with dolls after a certain age, so who would buy them?

I don't think the dolls even have a wide enough distribution to make a dent in action figures, even if that were true (which I don't think it is in this case). I've only seen the dolls at TRU. None of the Targets or Walmarts in my area stocked them, and from the post a pic thread that seems to be the case elsewhere as well.
Both the culture and the toy market have shifted quite a bit since He-Man. But I'll have to check out that show on Netflix. It sounds pretty interesting.

I don't think kids even like action figures anymore, just Minecraft, Youtube, and fidget spinners.

No, I don't think Mattel will be negatively affected in any way by this new Superstars line. Figures of female wrestlers have been a part of the predominately male WWE line since its inception in 2010. It hasn't been a problem before, nor should it be now that these stand on their own merit.

Targets new ‘reset’ has them in with the WWE figs in the boys section. A couple of mine have already set them up

I asked my 12 year old daughter's opinion of these while browsing a Toys R Us. She flat out disliked them. I'm actually curious about how well these sell.

LOL.
Star Wars has dolls. Has Star Wars collapsed? DC & Marvel have had dolls for years. Have they collapsed?
The only "men" threatened by dolls are men who have something to hide.

The only problem I have with them is that TRU has had almost no Elites at all during the months of September until now but they have an end cap and a huge chunk of real estate on the main aisle with very little action on them.

I don’t expect stores to be expanding the wwe section so the dolls will probably steal shelf space from the figures. Unless they put the wwe dolls in a completely different section

No I don't think the dolls will hurt the basic or elite line. No one is buying the dolls by me. Same stock since before Xmas at my TRU.

Unless they put the wwe dolls in a completely different section That's exactly how my local Toys R Us was last week when I went. During the holiday season most of the dolls were on the end cap of the aisle that has the other WWE figures. Now they were moved with the other figures and it's almost all dolls. Only figures they had were a bunch of Virgls and some DM Jerichos.

I’m not sure if they will hurt sales, but they’ve kind of screwed up distribution of other things. Since these popped up I’ve noticed a lot of Toys R Us hasn’t really gotten in more than one series of basics and one regular set of Elites. I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t even go hunting anymore. I just order online, which has been a bummer because hunting can be fun as hell.

Seeing as they are completely different items, I highly doubt they messed with distribution. Might just be the store not ordering as many

They are going to hurt sales. Because stickers and manAgment don’t know the difference between action figures and dolls. If Mattel purchased shelf space for these they are getting ripped off because they are just being clumped in to the boys section. The market these are meant for will not see them and the boys will have nothing but dolls tonchoose from. I see this at every store that is sticking these dang things. Shelves marked for basics and elites look full because dolls are hanging from them. TRU is the worst with this in my area an entire aisle of WWE and it is just dolls giant Jakks figures and giant belts and Ric Flair robes with the only Mattel for sale a few remaining summer slam two packs and network undertaker.
