Last night, in addition to having a SUPER awkward entrance with like zero fanfare and pageantry and the LIGHTS ON! last night...I'm a little confused at the weirdly...I guess...cryptic promo he cut? Was he saying he is now done...or was he laying the foundation for a mania match? If JR didn't say "was that a warning" I would have said OK he's officially done...but now... I'm torn...
Thoughts?

We know as much now as we did before that promo.

I thought it was a retirement speech until JR said that, too. I mean he's rumored to wrestle Cena at Mania, so we'll find out shortly. If that match doesn't happen then we can move on.
I was at Mania 33 and thought his match against Reigns was an absolute train wreck. So for no other reason, I'd like to see him give it one more go. I just don't think it means anything anymore. If he loses it's of no consequence. It's not like HBK where if he retired he would still have gas left in the tank. Still though, I think the fans would like to enter a match knowing it's going to be his last outing so that they can embrace him through the whole process. He deserves that treatment.

That promo was about as non-sensical as an Ultimate Warrior promo IMO.

After that promo I think it's safe to say hes wrestling Alzheimer's at WrestleMania.

The conclusion I drew (though not strongly), was that, by saying his former opponents could "truly rest in peace", it meant that they no longer need to fear The Undertaker. So, in essence, he's done. He also seemed to get really choked up when he delivered that line.
With that being said, it was so ambiguous that one could have easily drawn an entirely different conclusion with just as much validity as the scenario I assumed.

I don't think he's done. If Taker was ever going to come out and give a retirement speech, I would think it would be a lot clearer than that. The entire promo he cut was so vague and short.
Also, I don't think people are paying enough attention to the fact that he wasn't wearing any of the gear he left in the ring at WrestleMania. I feel like that had to be symbolic in some way for the company to actually pay attention to continuity like that, which they never do. I could see them do something where maybe Cena comes out and places all of Taker's stuff back in the ring and says he wants one more match with him and if he accepts, come out and pick up his stuff for one more fight.

I assumed it meant that he was done, but then JR threw me way off.

This is the emphasis I took from it, especially by the way he paused and built to delivering it. However, it was largely unclear and I would be hesitant to think that JR would say “could this be a warning” had this been his very last speech. I’d also be inclined to think that JR would know its a farewell speech, and that it would also close the show. I did however think that if Undertaker v John Cena was pencilled in for Wrestlemania, then this would have been the time and place to plant the seed for that moment, especially considering Cena really isn’t (or wasn’t) in a programme leading up to the Show.

Jr was sleeping and the music probably woke him up and startled him. That was not a warning. That was a retirement.

It was almost as if Bray Wyatt wrote his promo. Cause I heard words and left with no information.

He’s getting John Cena at WrestleMania. While we always thought Cena would be the one to end the streak, he won’t... but he will be the one to officially retire The Undertaker with his third loss at WrestleMania. ... or, ya know, so I predict and all. Haha

I hope he stays retired, unless he decides he wants to give the rub to Miz or Braun.

After that promo I think it's safe to say hes wrestling Alzheimer's at WrestleMania. Ha ha ha ha ha!!! Ahhh that is so cruel but funny, I love it! I still say Taker did the Manhattan Center because it was a shorter aisle way for him to walk to the ring than Barclay's was.

I didn’t read much into JR’s comment, only because neither of them seemed to be all that invested all night, and it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s just something that slipped out of his mouth. I don’t know how closely Vince was monitoring/feeding the Manhattan Center commentary. I suppose I could commit one way or the other more strongly if we had that info. If Taker/Cena weren’t so heavy rumored, I’d be pretty confident in it being a retirement speech. At the end of the day, though, yeah. Who knows.
