Some people collect the “color” variants. I never bought that he had legit color variations and it was just fading and damage over time. Anyone have a different opinion?

I saw this image (below) come up a few years ago showing 3 different colors for Rick Rude's tights. I think it is just discoloration over the years, maybe sun damage. But I don't know for sure.

Yeah, just the same chemical reaction as Rhodes. Yes, Martel has it too, before anyone asks.

A few years ago everyone was going nuts about color variants.
I was there when all of these figures first came out.
None of these color variations existed back in the day because they are all attributed to oxidation, plastic/color degradation, and other chemical reactions involving the materials used to make these figures.
This is common with almost every vintage figure line.
Try to ask a vintage Star Wars collector to pay a premium for a "Yellow Armor" Stormtrooper and see how well that goes.

Yes agree, it's just something that comes with age. Thats 1 reason I don't display my figures. I had some DVDs on a shelf by my window a few years back, the colour changed on that.

I also remember a few years ago how popular these 'variants' were. I got offered a couple of these for an inflated price.
I do think the 3 different toned Rude's look cool lined up next to each other though.

I find myself constantly thinking about how I want to display my collection but it's always met with my fear of the cards being damaged by sunlight. Even in a windowless room, I'd be worried the cards would deteriorate over the years for one reason or another.

Unless they are stored in a complete vacuum devoid of light and oxygen they will begin to degrade one way or the other over time.

I really want them out where they can be enjoyed and set up, perfectly. I guess it kind of defeats the object of why we collect if they're just stored away.

I have a few on display and noticed my flair galoob mocs bubble is starting to disclolour 😭 I find myself selling things that I've collected but I don't display as I convince myself I don't need it if I don't see it. My hasbros and galoobs are going no where as far as I'm concerned though lol

I put all my moc figures away in storage containers all the ones I have are now roughly taking up 2 and a bit storage boxes all the figures are placed carefully, hasbro and retro are all lined up front and backwards in the small storage container I have and it prevents damage to the bubbles etc. just need to find the LID for the container

Honestly I don't care if it is just oxidisation for these Rudes, having a pink tights Rick Rude is still freaking awesome.
