These two absolutely tore the house down with this main event! I loved the entire thing, and I'm so happy to see that they're getting the recognition they deserve.
Hard to believe that Gargano looked like he was just gonna be a tag team guy for awhile, and that Cien came in and got lost in the shuffle so quickly and began to be the guy that every new talent beat on their way in. Now they just had this main event match on January 27th, and it'll probably win overall MOTY for WWE. Wild!
In case you were wondering, here are all of the matches Dave has given ***** in the WWE:
Shawn Michaels Vs Razor Ramon - Ladder Match - WrestleMania X
Bret Hart Vs Owen Hart - Steel Cage - SummerSlam 1994
Steve Austin Vs Bret Hart - "I Quit" Match - WrestleMania 13
Shawn Michaels Vs Undertaker - Hell In A Cell - Badd Blood: In Your House 1997
John Cena Vs CM Punk - WWE Championship - Money in the Bank 2011
Andrade "Cien" Almas Vs Johnny Gargano - NXT Championship - TakeOver: Philadelphia
In my opinion, man, does this guy get on my nerves. But, I get that he is where he is because of his reporting and opinions, and I think that this will get this match even more buzz.

Definitely early match of the year candidate.

Definitely early match of the year candidate. The only think that I could even put together from the main roster or the NXT roster would be Shinsuke Vs AJ Styles. I just don't even see a possible combination of guys that could click like Gargano/Cien did. Even the incredible story behind it. Cien lost and lost and lost every match he was put in, and out of no where, earns a shot and the belt and wins it. Then, he shows up in a suit and says "I told you so". This all happens while Gargano, in storyline having the worst year of his career, moves up so fast by winning a series of qualifying matches, gets a shot at the belt. Out of no where, he is an underdog that got a chance to step up. All the way to the match, Cien is saying "this is finally my title and no body will take it from me", while Gargano is all-heart and won't back down to anyone. All around, any way you look at it, what a match.

I loved LaRae coming in and taking care of Zelina. That made perfect sense and added to the drama.

I mean, I can't imagine not giving that match five stars under any criteria.

It was a great match. Well deserved.
However, I would argue that DIY vs Revival vs AOP at Orlando, Bate vs Dunne at Chicago and Nakamura vs Zayn at Dallas deserved ***** too.

Meltz finally gave it five stars so I can actually enjoy it now. I was worried it would only get 4.75! I was waiting so long for his confirmation.

The last WWE match to receive 5 Stars from Meltzer was Punk/Cena at MITB. That's the last match I've enjoyed that WWE has put out. There hasn't been a good match since. Except for this one. You know who's to blame for WWE being crap the last decade? Metlzer! If that bastard would just praise the product, we could all enjoy it!
