That show had to have had the MOST fireworks in WWE history by at least 5x. I wanted to know what everyone's thoughts were about this? WWE goes the entire year with no pyro for TV nor PPV (even large ones like SummerSlam and the real Royal Rumble). Why do they deserve it? Did WWE think featuring more fireworks would draw better in the middle east? It feels like WWE went "F-U" to it's home audience to completely waste a ton of pyro for this show. I'm not against pyro, and I wish it were back, but it feels like a slap in the face when there was more pyro for this show than probably the last 5 WM combined. I understand it's the first legit show over there and pyro would make it more spectacular, but come on!!!

Yes, that's what this was. They went out of their way to put on fireworks just to stick it to the US crowds.
I'm sure it had nothing to do with the fact that they got paid an ass ton of money to put this show on, or the fact that this was ONE show versus how many shows a week they put on in the USA, or maybe even the fact that the money for the pyro may have very well been footed by the royal family or whomever was sponsoring the event because they wanted it to look like a big deal.
But naaaaaaaah, everything is a conspiracy theory.
Can we stop with the GRR threads now? Or at least keep it all in the same one?

This had fireworks because it was treated as being as important as WrestleMania, which also had fireworks.

They were paid millions and millions and millions of dollars to put on what amounted to a 12 year old Saudi kid's dream card. 12 years olds like fireworks. It was probably something Saudi Arabia requested.

They got fireworks because they paid to have fireworks. It’s that simple. So many people seem to be reading way too much into this show. Saudi Arabia paid WWE a crap ton of money to have a show there. WWE have them what they paid for. That’s about as deep as it goes.

Because they were paid a fortune to be there. Nothing more... nothing less.

I doubt they paid for a single one.
We moan when they don't have them, we moan when they do. Life of a wrestling fan.

This was a worse idea for a thread than all those “predict the WrestleMania 41 card” threads that one kid makes all the time.

Did I read somewhere that Jr and Lawler were requested, so they were brought in, and that Yokozuna and Ultimate Warrior were requested too, which is why the odd sumo guy was put in the rumble?

They actually asked for two long dead wrestlers? Talk about out of touch.

They had gotten where they were using pyro on RAW and SD too much to be honest. There are very few times where I miss it.

The simple reason is that Vince will go above and beyond to appease fans overseas in markets he's trying to get established in. The fact that Saudi Arabia paid so much money to the WWE is why Vince spared no expense by making sure this show had whatever they wanted (and in one case didn't want). It's a slap in the face to markets where the WWE already is, but Vince already has their money, so what does he care?

I knew most would have a problem with this. The thing is that governments and families in such areas of the Middle East tend to go big and strive for complete perfection when it comes to an occasion, architectural landmarks, achievements, etc so it was inevitable that every touch including the excessive pyro was going to be provided.
