Such a shame. They said he died of Leukemia. He invented the offense that a lot of teams in the NFL use and he led the 49ers to everything they have and built their legacy on. RIP Walsh.

Being a 49ers fan my entire life, this is really sad news. I'm glad that at least he doesn't have to suffer any longer with cancer.
Bill Walsh did so much for not just the Niners franchise, but the entire NFL. Truly one of the best minds in the history of the NFL...his accomplishments will never be forgotten.

sad indeed, although it was foreboding for anyone who saw his recent interview with Mariucci on NFL network. he looked awful, couldn't have weighed more than 95 pounds at that point.
a great coach who, along with paul brown, established a coaching tree with branches that will run through the nfl for another century, making sure his philosophies are never forgotten

He seemed like a very sincere and loving man in his interviews. It's too bad he had to go the way he did. At least he's in a better place now.
