Not your fault at all, PJ. I kept tabs on the thread from the get-go and only deleted it after I saw the original post had been deleted by someone (not me either lol). That was when I figured it wouldn't last much longer without a proper first post, so I deleted it all. Sorry for the confusion. Now maybe we can get back on track and discuss why the Survivor Series boxed set deserves its own segment in the upcoming episode. Ive seen a few mwntion that boxset now, whats with that? I looled on ebay and saw it sell a few times for less than $30 so its not the value, would love to k ow the deal with that It holds the distinction of being the first WWF boxed set made by Jakks Pacific in the fall of 1996. The Ultimate Warrior figure was an exclusive repaint and the last from Jakks until Classic Superstars Series 1 was released in 2004. The Survivor Series set could only be found in Toys"R"Us stores, which obviously brings back a lot of memories for collectors. I guess for many it also represents the beginning of Jakks as they were just two series in by that point. The bar wasn't set high or anything, but I think it looks great on display there. The colors are nice and bold (reminds me of the dominant Chicago Bulls teams of the era) and the shape of the packaging window accentuates the figures.

Thanks for that, wasnt aware of the back story and yeah, it does add a lot to an already great looking set

I had that box set...kinda. I lived in Shanghai from 1996-2000 and at the time Raw was one of the few American tv shows we got on Star Sports. I started my wrestling fandom with gusto then. In 1999 while going to a market to buy bb guns & fireworks one of the stalls had that SS box but the Warrior was missing. I don't remember what I paid for it, couldn't have been more than a buck or two but that HBK, Goldust & Bret were the first wrestling figures in my collection. Good memories.

So wrestling is going to be one of the featured topics in the season 3 of the toys that made us! Love that series and very excited for this one. Congrats to those who are taking part in this episode!

one of my favorites announcers Meh. Tony Chimel was the man. The guys they have now I like way more than Roberts, too.

It's great to see they're doing a wrestling figure themed episode. There's a decent amount of ground to cover when you account for the various promotions and manufacturers so I'll be interested to see how they approach it. I've enjoyed the first two seasons that came out, even tough I had little interest in collecting the toy lines they covered.

But I even found the Barbie and Star Trek episodes, which I couldn't have cared less about as a kid, really interesting. They did a great job balancing a well made and informative documentary with the fun and playfulness of talking about kids' toys. According to Wikipedia, season 3 will be TNMT, Power Rangers, Wrestling, and My Little Point. As a 90's kid, that's right up my alley.

Turtles and wrestling are my two main toy lines so I’m with you on that.

I can't wait for the Wrestling Toys episode! Such a critical part of my childhood. Cross promotion fantasy matches became reality in my bedroom floor. I watched and learned how a lot of moves are staged by trying to recreate them with my toys. I've always loved comic books and superheroes and wrestling toys were an especially great intersection of the two with real life superheros.
