I have been thinking of this for the past few days and not sure if we can discuss this at all or if anyone even knows the correct answer but as a business student I can't stop thinking of it and wanted to bring it up. How much does ringside markup the price? Considering that when a elite goes up for about $25-$27 they will drop it within a month or two to be closer to $18-$22 and by the end of the year they are mostly $10. Are they still making any money by $10 and if not why do they order that much. I understand they just want to get rid of it at that point but even from the first drop from $18-$25 that's $7 difference. Do they really try to make as much money as they can with the pre-orders?

Yes they do. It’s not a non profit organization

Shamrock and d’lo brown are why I don’t preorder much anymore. Those went less than half of what I paid. I’m not gonna wait for that but I can wait a few weeks for that first drop.

That what I have learned aswell. Figs I really want when they come out i will still preorder but most stuff I have waited till it drops or possibly find it at Wally World.

If I had to guess, the initial price is to guarantee the consumer the earliest run of a figure. It's a convenience charge for the most impatient and eager collectors. Personally, it doesn't bother me. This is my last remaining hobby and I don't mind paying extra to not have to deal with the unacceptable state of my local retail chains.

Buy low, sell high. Finance 101.
