I realize this topic may be a little old but some people I know beleive Troy Smith, former QB for the Ohio State Buckeyes current backup QB for the Baltimore Ravens, that he was deserving of the Heisman award... which I agree because the numbers he put up last year... but he showed what he was really made of in the national championship game...
People doubt after the national championship game if he really deserved the Heisman... I could have played frickin QB for the Buckeyes and won the Heisman... because all they did was run Ted Ginn Jr. up the sideline... every play.. sometimes go to him deep.. or just threw it underneath to Gonzalez, Hartline or Robiskie...
This statement was proven a fact when Ted Ginn Jr. got hurt after he ran back the opening kickoff vs. the Gators... thanks to that idiot Roy Hall who chopped locked his own guy in celebration after he scored spraining Ginn's ankle... what did Trot Smith do? nothing... which is why he did so good through the season because running Ted Ginn up the sidelines... u always needed to double team him sometimes triple team him...
So my opinion is Troy Smith would have been nothing without Ted Ginn Jr. and what he did.... but this will never come to surface because he is in Baltimore.. learning from Steve McNair and after he retires in 3-4 years.... he will come out and people will be like... ohhh he really did deserve the Heisman.... no he didn't....
I could have won the Heisman playing QB at Ohio State last year... lol
Thoughts??
