Some people seem to forget the absurd amount of money invested into Dice-4.48 ERA Dice-K is NEVER talked about, which I find hilarious. Outside of JD Drew, no one in the media ever brings up how much money Boston spent in the offseason. TEH 5 ACES!1

Five aces? Beckett is the only thing I'd consider an ace on Boston right now, and quite frankly, his career 6.36 ERA against the Yankees doesn't scare me... Sadly, I'd still take Curt Schilling over anyone else the Red Sox have in a big game.

Clemens is 45, where as Dice K is 26, his first time in America, first time in the AL.
A ton of people **** all over Josh Beckett last year, and hes gonna win the Cy Young or finish 2nd. Good work with the comments about Beckett being terrible last year fellow fans.
So I am not worried about Dice K, and also the comparison of him and Clemens just does not make sense.
Mussina will probably be traded, unless Pettite retires the rotation will probably be Wang/Pettite/Hughes/Joba/Kennedy
I really dont see a way where Mussina is back, maybe as a 5th starter, but Ian Kennedy is ready to pitch.
Joba might not be in the rotation if hes the heir apparent, but Mussina is a Padre next year and Dice K is still 26 and future ace.
Not to mention, you make the 5 aces joke like you are Lorenzo, it is also up for debate that the Yankees as of next year wont even have an ace. Wang is the closest and hes a product of his run support. You dont like stats, because they are too much for you and Lorenzo, so I will leave those out.
I do not buy people saying Hughes is now a 2-3rd starter, he is your best bet for the future, not Joba or Wang.
Joba already has the Cy Young won this year and next so it doesnt really matter
My whole point over this was that the reason why you are in the playoffs is your offense and some decent starting pitching and a solid BACK END of your bullpen.
Not any other way. You had the pitching to support the 2048 runs a game that offense can produce.
Clemens deserves a D........L.
Get it?

See, this is what I dont like. There is no way that Julian Tavarez has been our worst starting pitcher, this is just a stupid homer pick.
What this guy has done this year has been next to amazing. He was always available, in the pen or in the rotation and was actually decent for a 5th starter.
The worst starter can be anyone not named Beckett. There was a time that Wakefield was amazing for 2 months then pitched like garbage, same for Schilling, and same for Dice K.
Dont even get me started on Lester, fantastic he beat cancer but he should not have been anywhere near Boston until September.
Worst relief pitcher could have been Joel Pinero or JC Romero or some other schmuck.

Granted he had a really brutal first two months at the plate, but I'll gladly take gold glove defense in center field.. And have you seen that afro?

Better get your Oakland A's Coco Crisp jersey ready! I have an Indians and Red Sox jersey; so I don't see why I'd break that streak if he changes teams. ;D

I love this, he gives the Phillies 11 A grades and you give the Yankees 9, but he is chastised for that.
I love this thread! And I love ice cream!

I guess I was a little generous with Burrell. I'm not going to deny that. But it was an A-. His fielding has been great as usual and he can still throw a guy out at the plate. His plate discipline is much improved from the last 3 years and he has absolutely come up clutch in situations where he used to falter. I could put him anywhere between an A- and a B+ legitimately. He's never gonna be a 300+ hitter. As far as Ruiz goes .... for a catcher, he's been solid. Granted, there are much better hitting catchers obviously, but his ability to catch a guy stealing has been rock solid. Jose Reyes (the guy I blame for the Mets downfall) was caught stealing at least 4 times by him in the last 3 games we played against the Mets. THAT brings him to an A for me.

I think the big thing going with Clemens is not his starts, not his wins and not how "productive" he was. When they announced that Clemens was comming back it ignited a fire under NY. Fans and players get excited when they find out that a future HOFer is comming back to play....It wouldnt have the same effect if Kennedy or Chamberlain were brought up with a big announcement...Most people would have freaked out and 2nd guessed sayin it was too early....Like most did when they brought them up a few months later......
Overall Ill give the Yankees a B+, honestly I'd give the Red Sox either an A or A-...I have a feeling this could be one of the best playoffs in the past few years
