I was rummaging through my old collection the other day, and I thought I'd do a side-by-side comparison of my two Commissioner Michaels figures. The shorter one on the left is from the late 90’s Jakks line (part of the bone crunchers line - but the managers and suited figures mostly never had that feature). The other figure is the recent one released by Mattel in the Walmart build-a-figure set. They are roughly two decades apart in terms of their release dates (makes me feel old). I obtained the older one as a kid.

I was thinking of doing this myself. Thanks for saving me the time. Once I had it in hand, BAF HBK didn't seem so bad. I added it to my Attitude Era display almost a week ago and having something new to complement the other pieces is always a plus. I still stand by this though: Michaels is almost an exact reproduction of the BCA Commissioner Michaels, so the childhood nostalgia meter is high for me. But Austin is a tough sell. I paid less for the DM with a better vest and 3 belts. I just wish they could have done something a little more unique for the figure. The main difference here is that you have to spend $70+ to build Mattel's figure, whereas the Superstars Series 8 "Team Corporate" Jakks figure only cost $5-7 at retail in 1999. From head to toe, the Jakks figure sculpt was completely new for its time. The accessories included with the figure were also fully painted.

I still have that BCA Michaels along with his hat and briefcase-before they granted you title matches lol. And I also have the Shane McMahon that used the same body. I loved the early days of the BCA/Superstars figures.

Even though you hardly got the head sculpt likenesses I loved the early days of the BCA/Superstars figures. This is partially true. Shane's torso was different from that of Commissioner Michaels.

I wish Mattel would make more suited figures with the open jacket. Trying to think if anyone but Shane has the open coat.

This is one figure I hope they re-visit down the line. I wish he looked more like the picture on the old BCA figure.

Didn't the suited Shane with the pinstripes come before this commissioner Michaels? I thought I remembered thinking the mold was old. A lot of us will be showing our ages in this thread.

Shane in suit came in the same set. I remember getting this at Walmart the day after I stayed up all night watching a Friday the 13th marathon on TNT at a friend's house in Aug of '99.

I'm not sure on that but they were both in Series 8. I don't remember seeing it used before that but there was a bit similar style with the first announcer Vince McMahon in the Ringside Collection holding a microphone also.

Yeah, I remember Conan O'Brien making fun of the figure's lack of movement when he had Vince on as a guest years ago lol. Much like how they did the Sable, Marlena and looks like Backlund/Clarence Mason too I think. I still have those ones too besides I believe the awesome looking Marlena sadly. I did really like how they made them more 'statuesque' figures compared to the typical BCA wrestling roster. Helped to better place them in the ringside/background type role and I loved how they tried to give them more unique poses/sculpts to get the personalities. It was just a shame that Vince couldn't sit down lol but still really like the figures. The only other ones I didn't pick up were Cornette, Honky Tonk Man and Commissioner Slaughter.

I only ended up getting Michaels, Bossman and Shamrock of this set. I did have all of series 6, 7 and 9 however. I remember getting up super early and walking to the old K-Mart to get series 5 (I think) Austin.
