So we’ve had a bunch of Retros from Mattel over the last few years. We haven’t really seen anything from 1990-1994 era come our way yet. The closest if anything is Undertaker with purple gloves and Ric Flair. Nothing else has stood out in the perspective. Additions of Max Moon, Haku, Dino Bravo and all that never made it would be cool. But having an alternative Bret Hart, HBK or Macho Man (non NWO) would be interesting at least.

Don't forget the Ultimate Warrior.
I'd rather see wrestlers that weren't made by Hasbro because they just make it too noticeable that they are a different line. The only one I have is Stone Cold and he mixes well. The Warrior just doesn't fit at all. Flair is interesting on seeing how it looks side by side with them. But JYD, Sheike, and old Flair are promising. I'd love to see a Rhythm and Blues Valentine and other cancelled figs will be cool. Diesel is coming so we'll see

I would love to see a lot more golden era retros. The logic that "Well, Hasbro already made that character" falls apart or else Mattel would not produce flashbacks of classics that Jakks already produced. I would love to see 2 singles, 1 tag pack, plus 1 mgr/agent in each series.
SERIES 1 Hulk Hogan Undertaker 92 Legion of Doom Paul Bearer
SERIES 2 Randy Savage Big Bossman Hart Foundation Jimmy Hart
SERIES 3 Bret Hart Ric Flair Nasty Boys Bobby Heenan
SERIES 4 Ultimate Warrior Rick Rude Demoltion Mr. Fuji
SERIES 5 Yokozuna British Bulldog Rockers Miss Elizabeth
SERIES 6 HBK 92 Jake Roberts Natural Disasters Gene Okerlund
SERIES 7 Piper Papa Shango Money Inc. Gorilla Monsoon
SERIES 8 Hacksaw Jim Duggan Sid Justice Steiners Sensational Sherri
SERIES 9 Sgt. Slaughter Mr. Perfect Taker vs Taker 94 Howard Finkel
SERIES 10 Owen Hart 123-Kid Razor+Diesel Sean Mooney

I don't own any of the Retros. As soon as they release USA Lex, Luna, or Diesel I will contemplate purchasing.

There are still a lot of choices that Mattel has made in Elite form that Hasbro didn’t make. We still need Diesel, USA Luger, The Brainbusters, Barry Windham, British Bulldog 1995-96, Hart Foundation Jim Neidhart, Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Tugboat, Tito Santana in white trunks, Jerry Lawler, etc.

I’d be happy for them to make the guys who just missed out or even guys that didn’t get made that were around. Tons of names to chose from.

The things Mattel have done great so far are the Retro Ring-looks awesome, It's just how I would update the classic Hasbro ring while still keeping the essence of the classic style. All of Retro Series 2, Series One purple gloved Undertaker, Macho Man, Brock, Cena, Sheik, and Flair. I realize their hands are probably tied with getting certain names and they are most likely pressured by WWE I guess to keep putting in predominately current roster stars. But as it was already stated, seeing Elite figures of guys like King Mabel, I see no reason why we couldn't get a Retro of him soon also where he'd fit in perfectly. I can only dream of how the line could look if they let it be a complete passion project without being handcuffed by all the typical realistic roadblocks.

We need a retro Bastion Booger along with Jerry Lawler from that time. Also Mabel from Men on a Mission would be nice.

They aren't trying to re-create a certain look like Mattel is trying to recreate the Hasbros. Not even a close comparison.

Then why did Mattel, in its debut legend line, exclusively feature wrestlers in attires that were never produced by Jakks? To avoid retreading stuff that Jakks had already released. But over time, Mattel eventually ditched that philosophy and regularly releases wrestlers/attires that Jakks already took a stab at. Therefore it's reasonable to believe the same could happen with the Retro line. Whenever I encounter Retros in retail, it's always the current guys clogging the pegs. WWE/Mattel need to accept that the legends need to be more prominently featured in the line. Series 2 was such a stellar cast...and then it went steadily down hill from there. One example - HBK 96 (or even 92, the likeness of which Hasbro totally botched) would have made a lot more sense than modern era HBK.

What kills me is that they could be knocking this series out of the park with huge names that still fit into (or just before or after) the Hasbro era. This line should be the BIGGEST NO-BRAINER, can't-miss line imaginable.
ONLY using heavy hitters and no obscure characters, you've got:
Sgt. Slaughter (Iraqi heel) USA Lex Luger Jerry Lawler LOD (without shoulder pads) Roddy Piper (ring attire) Macho Man, neon cowboy ring gear Bret Hart, no sunglasses Shawn Michaels, heart tights Shawn Michaels, entrance gear King Kong Bundy Jim Neidhart, pink and black Bob Backlund Diesel Undertaker (1993 gray or 1994 purple) Jake Roberts (flame tights and cobra) Earthquake (Natural Disasters version) Mankind Goldust
And once you start going just a little more obscure:
Tugboat King Mabel Brooklyn Brawler Jeff Jarrett Bastion Booger Haku The Brain Busters Big John Studd Max Moon Powers of Pain The Barbarian (antlers) The Genius Mr. Hughes Tito Santana (before El Matador) Bad News Brown Hakushi Damien Demento
And literally dozens, if not hundreds, of others.

But I'm not a fan of them anyways so whatever. So over priced too. Leave the Hasbros alone and focus on the future instead of the past as far as figure styles go.

I’d be happy for them to make the guys who just missed out or even guys that didn’t get made that were around. Tons of names to chose from. I'd probably add guys that weren't made well to the list; Rick Rude comes to mind - to me that was the worst figure Hasbro made - they could do a short haired version. Legion of Doom without pads, a long tights Macho King as well. What kills me is that they could be knocking this series out of the park with huge names that still fit into (or just before or after) the Hasbro era. Great list, I'd purchase all of these.
