The second i found out The Bludgeon Brothers were going to be in Elite 66, i knew i'd pre-order them, so when the time came, i decided to order 2 sets of them. Their prototype renders looked amazing so that made it even better.
I will admit, the final product isn't as great as the renders but these two are still amazing figures. Anyone who knows me knows Luke Harper is my favourite active wrestler, and one of my favourites of all time, so any figure of his i'll get.
I decided to order 2 sets of these because i wanted one set loose and the other MOC, and it couldn't have turned out any more perfect. One set were perfectly placed in the package and the other were slightly off, so it made it easy to decide which ones to open. One thing i noticed, both of these figures are heavy as hell, so 4 of them in a box gave it quite a bit of weight.
ERICK ROWAN
I'm not as big a fan of Rowan as i am Harper, but i still like him, i feel like for so long he was lacking something to make him interesting, then in 2017 when he had the Clown gimmick i was starting to like it, but then it obviously got cut short... But thankfully this gimmick came along and i think it's perfect for him, it fits his look and personality perfectly, and he's definitely improved with it.
This figure is great, the sculpt and colours are fantastic, i love how they made a completely new body for this figure and didn't just paint over an existing body. He comes with a boat load of accessories, the extra hands, the belt, the mallet, the jacket, the hood and the mask, all of which are done perfectly. The jacket has incredible detail, as well as his mask, although i feel like it's a bit too 'clean' but it's still great.
The headscan is spot on just like his previous Elite, Rowan's never had a bad headscan. His attire is accurate and the colour is perfect, it looks brighter in the pictures but in person it's a bit darker and more accurate.
Easily Rowan's best Elite, especially now that the articulation hindering jumpsuit has been replaced.
NEGATIVES
There's a few small negatives with this figure. Number 1: With the amount of paint detail, there's a few paint marks around the figure, there was a pretty big orange one on his head but i removed it before the pics. Number 2: his ab crunch is a bit loose, but i expected this from the start, it's not the worst but it's still there. Number 3: this one i would say is the biggest issue, his left should is locked, you can rotate the arm fine but trying to move the shoulder up or back it won't budge, i know 'My Damn Toys' on Youtube has this same problem and hopefully it'll fix up with some heating.
LUKE HARPER
As i said above, Luke Harper is my favourite active wrestler, i always liked him but he was never in my top 5, then in early 2017 when he was briefly given a spotlight, that's when i became a huge fan of his and it's been that way since. I think he's extremely underutilised and definitely deserves a proper singles push for a world title. Whether he's got the white top, black top or the maroon top, he looks like a total badass, and it's because of him and Rowan that a shirt i never wore ended up becoming my favourite shirt simply because it was the same colour as their attire.
Just like Rowan, this figure is fantastic, he also shares a brand new sculpt and has amazing colours. His top is incredible, the patches are sculpted on and have a great texture. Like Rowan, the colours look brighter here but in person they're darker, and it looks even better. He doesn't come with as many accessories as Rowan but they're still amazing. The Mallet is the same between him and Rowan and they're both great, his jacket has amazing detail just like Rowans and it differs slightly with the sleeve and sculpted on hood.
Harper's headscan is amazing, it looks just like him, the beard is fantastic and his hair is perfect, even the bun is perfect. Seeing pictures of this before owning them, i was a bit worried his head looked 'too square' and flat on the top, but in person it looks a lot better. As much as i love this headscan, i can't decide whether i like this or the Basic 67 head more, so for now they're equal.
NEGATIVES
Just like Rowan, there are a few negatives. Number 1: just like Rowan, with the amount of paint work, there are a few marks around, nothing too extreme though. Number 2: With Harper's head, mine can turn to the right easily but trying to turn it left is really tight, so basically he can look straight and right but hopefully a little heat up will fix it. Number 3: While his body looks proportionate and great, i feel like it's a little big, Harper has slimmed down a lot and i would argue a Cesaro sized torso would pass for him, it's not a big deal though. Number 4: This one's just a nitpick i would say, but because of his jacket sleeve, it obviously hinders the articulation, and as you know, Harper holds the Mallet over his left shoulder during their entrance. Just a little thing.
While taking some team photos, i messed around with the 'spot colour' option on my phone and got this cool edit of a fantasy grey/black attire that looks badass.
Also while posing Harper around, i threw the ECW Title on him and WOW it looks incredible on him, it's a perfect match. If this Harper was in WWE during 2006/2007, i have no doubt he'd make a legit ECW Champion.
To finish up, here are some pictures of The Bludgeon Brothers together, i finally have a reason to take the Tag Titles off American Alpha now, and they look amazing on Harper & Rowan. Another thing, these 2 guys are HUGE when you put guys like HBK, Finn Balor & Daniel Bryan next to them, they dwarf them. Are these 2 figures of the year already? Easily Yes, especially Luke Harper. Erick Rowan in his full entrance gear is an absolute gem too.
Thanks For Looking.
