I've noticed it's a complete pain in the ass trying to swap out kneepads on guys like Rollins and Balor who have the kickpad style boots. I'm interested to know what some of you customizers do, is there an easier way to swap in and out kneepads or is it basically a like it or lump it situation? Cheers.

If they have the calves that have part of the kick pads on them Id say removing the calf from the knee. If they dont then just pop the boot off. That is of course the old style knees. With the new "internal" joints, I dont think you can swap at the knee any more.

I just heat up the knees and then pop out one peg. Afterwards, I push the kneepads in and reheat. It’s kind of annoying in all honesty. Another method is just heating the top portion of the kickpads and just pushing the kneepads out. Lately, I’ve been trying to be careful with using a blow dryer because the torso seams seem to be splitting..

It used to be as easy as heat and pop the boot but now all these new methods of articulation is making it too much work. It's like Mattel don't want us doing fixups anymore

I usually boil some water on the stove, dip in the figures at the part you want to pop off. Easiest way in my opinion is just to pop the boots off and slide the knee pad off, once they are on just reheat the female end of the connection and pop back on.

It’s only an issue on the guys who still use that crapty two piece kickpad mold. Bryan and Styles and the last few Punks have that nice one piece mold

They feel superior in quality and don’t bend near the knees like the one piece. Also there’s more of a gap that’s exposed with the one piece mold when they’re turned.

When you do it enough you realize it's easy to slip them off. There's a certain angle you yank at and certain angle to hook it back on, you just have to remove the boot and heat the pads so they're soft.

I only had to do that a few times for Jakks. Most of the time I just needed to turn the knee pad around and slid the "pad" part (front) off around the heel of the figure's foot. With Mattel though I've found "boil n pop" is very much the best and easiest way.

It’s definitely you, that mold is garbage

Yeah if only it was that simple. I've done it before but it's much more difficult for Rollins than it is for AJ.

sorry, i was just making the point, that THIS IS THE EASIEST WAY.
it is like asking, "who had better legs than Stacy Keibler"
Also i never use a hair dryer for this, only to dry paint.
see in Australia/England every household has a KETTLE, we drink tea 24/7

I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions maybe taking the leg off at the knee. But I'd probably ruin the figure removing the pin.
