Quick question, why does WWE insist on doing the draft/shakeup a week after Mania instead of the night after? Would make sense as it would serve as a soft reset post-Mania. Instead they're going to drag out feuds for another PPV with guys/girls all over the board.

I like your idea, I think it would be a progressive thing to do.
Instead we're at the mercy of tradition. Backlash usually is the PPV following WM (I think) and that usually is a wrestlemania rematch card, at least for the major feuds that were ongoing.

We're getting a Saudi show and then MITB as the first post Mania PPV this year. Disagree, though. We saw the Revival get their rematch on Monday and now that feud can be over. We saw the Hardys win the SD tag titles and the Usos will likely go to Raw. It gives WWE a cushion week during the busiest stretch of their year. Not to mention, they have to actually sort out the draft and figure out who is going where. It's kind of a miracle they're able to do it so quickly after Mania. Braun came out for Joe. Lacey has gone after Becky. McIntyre will likely chase down Kofi. So I think we're seeing new feuds.

It gives them (and us) a week to digest a lot of stories that took a lot of work to create, adjust, and finish after a couple of busy weeks. I feel doing the shakeup the next night would require a lot of attention where most of us are already exhausted from the weekend. Plus, it’s WM’s smark crowd. Some changes would result in odd chants and reactions WWE might not want projected to the tv viewers.

Raw after Mania is hyped enough on its own. People are gonna tune in regardless. It’d be kind of a waste of a ratings draw to do the draft the same night.

I don’t think a week really makes a difference, the bigger question is how is the shakeup going to work this year since there are no longer GMs and the McMahons control both shows?

because the night after mania is a filler show to "wind down" from Wrestlemania and give the fans that stick around just a little more to digest. its not about starting over and making a million changes. for the last few years especially its been about surprise call ups or returns and recapping 'Mania
its perfect that they do the "shake up" next week because then it really is a restart for a lot of things.

It seems like it’s going to be better in that regard this year. There’s still gonna be 4 weeks of TV after next week before MITB. They really didn’t continue any storylines from Mania. Revival got a rematch, and lost. Some people didn’t even appear on the shows this week. Hopefully, there won’t be any awkwardness of opposite brand matches at MITB like there was at Saudi and Backlash last year. Any Mania rematches *should* only happen between those who are still on the same brand.
