It amazes me, that given how sensitive people are in this day and age, and how cautious a big corporation like WWE is, that they feel its absolutely fine for the commentators to utter "Oh My God", as often as they do. I only mention this because its ridiculous how often it gets said on commentary, the moment anything out of the ordinary happens, the first thing they say is "oh my God" x10.

Not everybody believes in God, like myself so I don’t find anything offensive about it especially when it’s just a figure of speech. If you are offended then I suggest you watch WWE on mute but I can’t see many wrestling fans being offended by it especially with the emphasis J.R and Joey Styles added in the 90’s when saying it.

How do we know what religion Michael Cole subscribes to? Or are they referring to Vince as God so it doesn't count?

I think it’s just such a common throw away phrase that like 99% of people use, that no one thinks about it. It’s almost like how if you look at the origin of a lot of common sayings, they are often horribly offensive. It’s just that most people’s brains don’t go there when they hear it.

I dont believe in Him either. I do however believe it's a peculiar thing that has went unchecked given how sensitive WWE are to religious concerns etc and how many Christians would find it offensive. Im sure im not the first person to have a family member say, "stop using the Lords name in vain". I made the post in hoping to bring to light the non-awareness of the issue. Your post just skips over the entire point im getting at. There are many things I dont believe in either and wouldnt find offensive but that doesnt mean the opposite isnt true and that if I were a Christian like many people are its a phrase that many would find offensive. So, given how sensitive WWE are to these things, and society in general with the way things are going, why has this not been brought to light. I think its an interesting question. I guess, it bugs me because its soooo over used on WWE by the commentators, to the point of ignorance, which is what I think some would find offensive.

There isn’t because we know what this company is like, they put God in a tag team match. Like k5 said, nobody cares lol

I would have thought none of the fans would care about that in the same manner you write about.

I’ve never heard anybody be offended by the word “ass” used on WWE 🤷🏽♂️ Neither have I, but they arent allowed to say it on WWE shows. Roadogg will be the first to tell you that lol. He had ot take it out of his entrance music. So I guess someone must be offended. So must Mattel by the way, who are also a big coporation.

You wouldn’t hear it on any kids cartoons or most shows before watershed so that’s understandable. God however isn’t considered an offensive word. Plus Road Dogg is born again Christian so like Shawn Michaels they try to avoid all the offensive gestures etc on TV to show face,

God as a tag team partner was offensive (especially the segment with Vince and Shane in the church) but to say the phrase “oh my God!” isn’t the slightest bit offensive. There’s a big difference in those two examples.

There’s a big difference in those two examples. ' Well it obviously is because people consider it using the, Lords name in vain. If you're a fan of the Steve Austin podcast, famously Rick Rude found it offensive, he told Steve many a time to stop using the Lords name in Vain. My grandmother found it offensive as well as a Christian, she would always tell me to stop using the Lords name in vain. So for you to say it isnt the slightist bit offensive is simply wrong. The fact that im aware of the phrase being offensive, should make you wonder why you feel it isnt the slightest bit offensive.

You might not have known anyone to be offended by "oh my God" but are you telling me you havent heard the phrase, "stop using the Lords name in Vain"? I think theres a bit of misunderstanding here amongst people that think those are entirely two different meanings.

I'm a Christian and I'm okay with it. Then you must be aware of the commandment, “Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.” You dont call on, God without believing. Im gobsmacked at the lack of awareness on this. This whole thread has shown exactly why I brought the issue to light, not so much that I was offended by the phrase but merely stunned at the ignorance of the issue.
