I prefer the 4 packs with limited accessories for 50 bucks rather than a 2 pack for 35.

No chance these last. Every Mattel offering that was more the $19.99 retail has failed. Honestly, I am surprised the collector community is enough to keep the standard elite line afloat sometimes. I guess there is a good mix of collectors and rich parents who buy high end action figures for their kids (the few kids who actually still like playing with toys). Lineups could have been better. The Top Talents series really flooded the market with AJ's and Finn's. In addition to being repaints, that did this pack no additional favors. I'm starting to think maybe it isn't. WWE's recent quarterly stockholder call noted a 13% drop in consumer products from 2018. There are a lot of things under that umbrella, but they specifically called out "lower royalties from the sale of toy products." Add in the decreasing viewership, and you have to wonder how they sustain it. That may partially explain why they're flooding figures of top names and seem terrified of taking a risk with deep cut figures. I just think they're barking up the wrong tree, and are ultimately alienating the deeper pocketed adult collectors. I wonder if that quarter they're referring to is the one where nearly everyone, everywhere, has been complaining about how difficult it has been to actually find stuff at retail. Can't buy it if it's not on the shelf.

I'm definitely intrigued by the concept. No interest in what we saw but excited to see more line ups.

Tbh, I cant wait for Mattel to lose this license so I dont have to deal with distribution, Quality Control, and unreleased figure issues. And then I can just focus on 1 toyline (ML)

Lol!

The Elite 2 Packs were one of things I was most excited about from SDCC. I’m not sure I’ll get the AJ/Finn set, but I’m definitely planning to get the Rey/ Joe set.
I’m looking forward to what this series might offer. I had high hopes for the Elite Hall of Fame 2 Packs, but those fizzled out after only one wave. I hope this series can get us some more figures, preferably some teams like Heavy Machinery and The Viking Raiders. Hopefully some Flashback teams too.

Can't buy it if it's not on the shelf. It was the Q2 earnings call, so that would reflect the store exclusive strategy and lack of secondary lines. The lack of figures at retail probably comes in towards the tail end of the quarter, but it also has the Wrestlemania boom, which is usually one of the higher buying times. And there were resets and an absence of product last year (maybe not this bad, though). Metrics are down by good numbers across the board - live event attendance, merch sales, tv ratings, and Network subs are pretty stagnant. But a decline in sales is going to hit Mattel harder than WWE for any number of reasons. It just feels like Mattel keep throwing spaghetti against a wall and hoping something works.

I’m interested in that Mysterio, time will tell if I’m able to pick it up. Reading through this thread and people are commenting that Balor/Styles are basically re-releases (I don’t collect current,so idk). If that’s the case, why would they start it with such a lackluster choice? It makes no sense.

I’m consistently confused by everything Mattel does these days. I wish Mattel or its design team would offer an explanation to some of the choices. Even if the answer was a straightforward, abrasive “Eff you! It’s because we felt like it!”, that would be cool because at least we would know. I get that we can’t have The British Bulldogs but a 2 pack that doesn’t give us The Dream Team when both characters are signed, this is a question we’d all like answered. What about rounding out the NOD? Just tell us why theses figures weren’t chosen. My collecting interest is waning because I don’t understand their decision making. Keep me informed and that’ll keep me vested. Otherwise, must haves turn into maybes and maybes turn into passes.

I wonder how bad the quarter that has this swamp in it is going to be then. I'm one of the guys that has been telling everyone the whole way along to keep in mind about resets and summer stagnation and the like...but damn...this has been one of the worst stretches I can recall in a long time, if not ever. I mean, this has affected basically every retail store and spanned across pretty much every toy line from every company. Hell, the only companies I see consistently getting their products onto the shelf is Funko and NECA.

AJ had an elite released in attire that was very similar with some slight differences.

I think the Aj, Finn set will sell just fine, specifically because of the too sweet hands, people are gonna want them to customize. I know I’m gonna pick both sets of Series 1.

So I love the fact the we will get a battle damage demon and well if it comes with an AJ with too sweet hands I'm all for it. It will stop me from buying a future top talent AJ. As for Rey and Joe, I'm personally a big fan whenever they do attire to big events like Mania or Summerslam, so I'm all for those. I hope though in the future of this line, they make it more of a tag team type set. Yeah I'm sure here and there will be get a 2-pack for a rivalry. But this is where Mattel can release more Usos, or The Viking Raiders, or even this is were a Hawkins and Ryder from Mania can be released. As for flashback/legends well even thought Bill said they release the Godfather they never made a nation bald version of Godfather and then add Mark Henry, and you have a full set of NOD. I do really hope people will buy the 2-packs cause I personally like the idea of it finally coming out.

I would have liked them to have one Flashback/Legend 2-pack and one current 2-pack every series (similar to what the UE line is doing). Make them more special/unique - I'm not sure how well 2-packs of all current guys (that are in pretty much every other series or Top Picks already) will sell...

"We'd like to continue elite two packs, but the demand just wasn't there". Fresh updated Usos... Revival with coats etc. One classic team in the mix million dollar man in tux with Virgil in ring gear??? Just off the top, out the gate better received. I have no interest in anything they've announced 2 pack wise. But then again, I like to hit em' with the heiiiiiiiiiiiiin! Xoxo 😘

Here's another quick easy 2 pack that could be made for this line and one of the figures in it would be a first time in the line and the first updated figure in years it's The sultan and Bob backlund both of them are under contract just give backlund the suited body with a different head scan then deco out the sultan with everything he needs
They could have a build a figure concept going for this line also to help boost it with 1 or 2 extra figures added in each series if it was thought out well enough and planned right on what figure would be put where in each series and they all have to also relate to the same era of the figures in the series to build it either being current or flashback so if its 2 sets a series then them 2 make one build a figure of either or if it was to be bumped up to 4 per a wave being 2 flashback 2 current then each one comes with 2 parts per a set specifically depending on the same eras of each 2 pack so if you was to buy all 4 you could have 2 different build a figures also

Launching a new line? Who should we launch this with Aj Styles? Finn Balor? No never they don’t sell! Rey Mysterio? Samoa Joe? Never they rot on the shelves!!! You know who we need? The Sultan! Dammit that’s brilliant we won’t even be able to get all those Sultan figures on the pegs before they are picked clean! Cmon, they is such a minor footnote character in history and is Fatu’s least successful character.
