What I think hurts matches a lot is this concept of huge movesets. People get mad fun of for only doing 5 or 6 moves but you can tell a great story with only that. Telling a story hasn’t been trendy for a while - what’s trendy is the moveset obsession. Wrestling now is all making sure that in every match you do all of your weak grapples, all of your strong grapples, all of your back grapples, all of your ground grapples, three specials, seven dives and four springboards. It’s video game wrestling rather than telling a story. And now it’s difficult for anything to really register as a high spot.

I think this indy mentality has sunk in. Like PWG matches are fantastic and all are classics, but they have no story and all are 20 minute internet fan boy spot fests. I think wrestling matches lack story 100%, and not everything should be 20 minute clinic.

My main issue is the 2/3 falls matches. They bore me to tears and shouldn't be a weekly thing. TakeOver's gonna be sick tho!

Well yeah that one will be awesome for sure, but the ones on raw are short, meaningless, and kill the concept. To be fair though, there was a match between Ric Flair and Bobby Eaton in the early 90s that was 2/3 falls. The whole match was 9 minutes. That was silly. Should have just been a regular match.

The whole move set thing really started to become more prominent as far as I can tell after players had the ability to edit move sets in video games. I think it opened up a lot of people’s eyes as to how many different scenarios there are and people started overthinking it. And a lot of the top guys/girls now would have been kids or teens when those games were coming out.

Do you guys also notice how they book indy wrestlers as jobbers for Braun, Nia and the Women's Tag Team champs?
How are we gonna believe they are monsters/amazing when they are beating people we have 'never seen' before!?
I guess reason being Braun/Jax are still somewhat green (didn't pay their dues) and cannot put on classics??
It's not like they do not have the roster to do it!
