This deal with FOX seems to be the most lucrative TV deal WWE has ever had. Being on syndicated TV will definitely get more eyes on the product but from FOX TV personalities, especially in sports, have been completely burying the company and the wrestlers. FOX is expecting big ratings right out the gate. Something crazy like 3.33. I can totally see all the execs, especially on the sports end, completely ostracizing the product if it underperforms

sorry is this hyperbole? FOX is clear on who they support, Linda M. has an administrative position; Vince is a good friend - I don't intend to be political but why would their sports execs hate on wrestling?

Fox pre-game seemed to hype them as they were talking about it while showing clips of the 49ers players and the New Day interacting at a WWE event last week.

This is a perfect case of a thread with a misleading headline. How do they "seem to hate wrestling" if they gave them a ton of money to have them on their network? If anything you are looking at is as if they underperform then they may be unhappy, but how are they unhappy right now? Poor choice in a thread and a title.

Fox gave Vince a billion dollars for a show with unsteady ratings. That one dude with probably zero knowledge of Lucha Libre making a crack about Mysterio looking like Nacho Libre isn’t an indication of the higher ups feelings.

I'm sure there are people in the fold over there who look down on wrestling as a sideshow that panders to the LCD of the public, who see the athletes as nothing more than people who failed to succeed at other sports, who feel "their" network shouldn't have ever sullied its good sports name by bringing on some fake a** trash-tv gimmick. As I'm sure there are at any network who invests in a wrestling show. I wouldn't label it as a wholesale burial of the product before it is even given a chance.
I will say having the most successful wrestling company ever underperform in these circumstances will influence the industry's image with tv execs going forward.

Are we really putting this much stock in the opinion of a guy who pissed himself on the field so frequently that he garnered the nickname "Stink"? I mean, even if we are - come on. He's one guy, and hardly an executive, at that.

Did he piss and crap his pants while in the league? Yes. Also he never watched wrestling, so when he saw Mysterio that's what he thought of is Nacho Libre. It wasn't being rude. He just legit didn't know. Mysterio laughed at it, and said it was cool, and he understood after. Why do I know so much about Mark Shlereth?

Whichever story he's running with this week, the latter point really drives it home - why is a thread's worth of stock being given to this guy's sh*tty take?

FOX and the majority of people who watch their stations probably think wrestling is real

I can't help but fear that FOX may drain the fun out of Smackdown. Many have claimed that they want it to be a sport so does that mean that storylines and backstage stuff will be cut?

I should have been more specific. The sports people seem to take digs at wrestling

Storylines and backstage stuff was mostly cut from WWE years ago. The kickpads era is great at giving us a little workrates guy vs another little workrates guy, but not so great at giving us reasons to care.

Attitude Era and Ruthless Aggression Era will forever be the best just cos of the backstage stuff and storylines. Today’s WWE has HUGE potential if they put more effort into those kinda things. The talent roster are actually not too bad honestly.
