A guy or girl wins Money in the Bank, and then wins the world title in a non-MITB way, simultaneously holding the briefcase and the belt. Three months or so after winning the strap, the champ loses his/her title and then immediately cashes in Money in the Bank to win the title back.
In 15 years of Money in the Bank, how has this never been done?!

Off the top of my head I believe the closest that has come to winning a world title while holding MITB without needing to cash in has been Rollins when he faced Lesnar/Cena at the Rumble in the triple threat.

The first MITB winner also became #1 contender while holding the briefcase. Lita's big betrayal of Kane in the Gold Rush Tournament Finals, aligning with Edge. He would lose his title opportunity against Batista and continue on with the story with Kane.

Good info on Edge. I would've guessed that Rollins was the only briefcase holder to have a title match.

That would be a cool idea for a heel holder of the Briefcase.
Have them stop carrying the Briefcase around and just carry the Title, making people forget about the MITB. Then when they lose the Title, they attack the person after the match and get the Briefcase out from under the ring, reminding everyone that they were still the MITB holder all along..

I never understood why people find the concept stale. I think there's many scenarios they haven't explored with the stipulation. Someone holding the briefcase and world title would be an awesome idea. Having a champion lose their title, beat up their opponent after and cash in would draw some serious heel heat.

Also the MITB should be for any title not just the main 2. There is no reason Otis wouldn't cash in his contract for the tag straps.

I disagree, but I think in a way you do raise a point about an issue with Money in the Bank. It should be for the top titles, but the winners should be people who haven’t been at the top yet. Money in the Bank and Royal Rumble should be a launch pad, and in general shouldn’t be won by people who are already regularly challenging for the title. |

Laid this out in a thread before: it would have been strong character development if Otis wanted to use MITB for the Tag belts out of loyalty to Tucker but he and Rose insist on using it for himself. A heel overhearing their convos backstage leads to him saying Otis is too timid and scared. Ultimately it would lead to Otis losing MITB to the heel and him and Tuck moving back to the tag ranks, eventually winning the straps. |

Booking wise it would be great. The champion could wave the briefcase in the challengers face, reminding them that they have an instant rematch if they lose.
Not only that, if the MITB winner was champ and their year was coming to an end they could cash in on the other brands champion.

With all due respect I don't believe Otis is deserving of that spot though. Maybe not Otis particularly, but someone who is just about ready to take that next step. Guys like Bryan, Punk, Edge, and Ziggler were good winners because it made them pretty much fresh contenders. With Otis, it seemed like they were heading in that direction then changed their minds afterward. |

Did Ziggler have any title matches while holding the briefcase? I feel like he did.
Edge became the #1 contender in 2005 while holding the MITB but lost to Batista. Same with Rollins in 2015.

I would love to see the Money in the Bank holder win the Royal Rumble, lose the main event at WrestleMania, attack the champion as he’s celebrating, and immediately cash in and win the title.

Doesn't make a lot of sense for a guy to get pinned which means he's down long enough to not answer a 3 count for him to get up and cash in.... From a logical stand point you wanna cash in when the champion is in dire straits (heel) or cash in for later that night or at the PPV (face) seems dumb to eat a loss then get up and say huh let's do that again.
At this point I think they should allow the briefcase to be cashed in on any championship.

At this point I think they should allow the briefcase to be cashed in on any championship. I was thinking this exact thing when reading the OPs post. It doesn’t make sense for the guy that just got defeated to challenge again and be capable of winning right away. I know that is essentially what an Iron Man match is but those are booked and laid out differently than a traditional 1 fall match. It just wouldn’t make sense logically for that person to be able to win after losing. |

I just wish it was defended more. Sometimes you put the briefcase with a guy who has a hot hand but then before cashing it in he's ice cold. At least this way you can move it around.
