First photo has surfaced of Colin Farrell as Penguin. It's a bit over the top in terms of making him look unrecognizable. Almost makes me think 'whats the point?" Some fans have referred to it as "Richard Kind cosplay", which gives me a good chuckle.
I firmly believe that if we get Batman movies better than Nolans I will be more than shocked, but the casting for this movie is starting to pull me in. I've always liked Pattinson since he began work to rehab his Twilight image, as well as Farrell, Dano and Wright.
Anyone else have any thoughts?

Colin in my opinion is the best actor going and I can not wait to see his take on The Penguin. This is one of the best casted films and I am very much look forward to it.

I honestly never cared for him until I saw In Bruges. I loved that so much that I became a specific fan of him. Add that to the fact that he was the only good thing about True Detective season 2 and his talent level is clear.

At this point with comic book movies, I just wait and see. I feel like I've groaned at most casting, and then been very very pleasantly surprised. With the exception of RDJ as Tony Stark, I knew he'd nail that in his sleep.

Even when I hear they are good I just don't bother because all the MCU movies mostly feel the same to me. I skipped most of the last two "phases" as well as most of Snyder's DC stuff. My favorite casting in the past bit has been Michael Keaton as Vulture. That was damn good. Not to mention how shocked I was at Batista's performance in GOTG.

Right before the last Avengers came out, I spent weeks binging through all the movies. Rewatching my favorites, and filling in the ones I hadn't seen. None of the DC movies have moved me, at all. I mean, they were okay but I have no urge to rewatch them. Talking specifically the... What do we call it? Post-Nolan era?

I remember hating Man of Steel so much, especially considering how well received it was compared to Superman Returns. And I can't stress this enough, Superman Returns wasn't that bad at all.

I personally love the prosthetics chosen for Colin Farrell. Its just so out of left field because NOBODY expected him to look like this.
With that said, I would love for Richard Kind to play the Penguin. But only if he plays it exactly like his character in Curb Your Enthusiasm.

I'm not complaining or anything about Robert Pattinson being cast as Batman. I am surprised there wasn't an uproar on the internet over him being cast as Batman. People freaked out all over the internet about Ben Affleck being cast as Batman, but there wasn't a public backlash this time around.

Pattinson I think has done a good job of repairing his image the past few years I think. Between The Lighthouse and Tenet I think the public opinion on him is high. Sometimes I feel like Affleck can't wash off the 2004 Bennifer stink even to this day in a lot of people's eyes.

Colin Farrell is a great actor who should have been much bigger in Hollywood. as far as my fellow Irish men go? I feel he's better than Fassbender. I was excited to hear he was part of this.
Wrights casting as Gordon? Love it. Farrell as Penguin? Love it Pattinson is a great actor & I look forward to him in the role.
finally I love my Comic Book movies...also? Nolans Bat movies are chronically overrated. Like most of his movies. I enjoy them but they are far too stripped back.

Pattinson legitimized himself. his movies following twilight showed how accomplished of an actor he is. Affleck has always been an egg fart. excited to see how the movie develops.

The one problem I have with Pattinson is his god awful hair. The guy is a billionaire I can’t picture Bruce Wayne ever having such a horrible hair style. I don’t care how good the movie may be that hair is going to be a main Mark against it in my book.

I like the look. I like the approach of having a penguin that still has realistic features as opposed to the Batman returns penguin.

Yeah, I loved everything else about the Batman Returns Penguin-the outfits, the nose makeup prosthetic and of course, Devito's performance. It just went way too far with him being a mutant penguin man with flippers raised by actual penguins... But of course, this was the height of Goth Tim Burton so he couldn't help going down that road.
