what if there was no war to play an angle off of, how do you think everything woulda went down that year?
would we have got hogan vs warrior 2?
does savage still have a retirement match?
what does sgt slaughter do that year then?

They probably would have had a Hogan Vs Earthquake blow off match with some stipulation like a cage.

Dont seem them bringing back Sarge without that war going on. Cant see Hogan/Warrior 2 as no way does Vince turn Hogan heel during that time period.
Quake beating Warrior for the belt at the Rumble the same way Sarge did with help from Savage and with that we get Hogan/Quake for the belt at Mania.Warrior/Savage retirement match goes down as it did.

I wouldn't have minded Ultimate Warrior vs Macho King at WM7 for the strap. They could probably still do the career-ending match as the secondary stipulation but, that's probably not needed. Have Hogan and Earthquake have their final match here with Hogan going over. During the Summer, they could build Warrior/Undertaker for the WWF Title and Hogan wanting his title back. Undertaker could beat Warrior at Summer Slam in a body bag match or casket match, this way Warrior doesn't actually get pinned and remain strong. Then Hogan could beat Undertaker at Survivor Series to regain the title. There could be a screwy finish with Ric Flair, this way Hogan wins but doesn't beat Undertaker outright keeping Undertaker strong as well. This also helps build towards Flair/Hogan at WM8.

Wasnt war actually declared the night Slaughter beat Warrior? Talk about timing...LOL. I was shocked to hear Prichard say Sheik Tugboat was seriously being considered. Sarge had Nuclear heat with his new "Americas gone soft" Schtick & they went that route instead....whoooo nelly.

Warrior vs Savage in a title vs career match at Mania wouldve been great but with Warrior's run at the top running on fumes by early 91, it was for the best he dropped it when he did at the Rumble.
Quake wouldve made a good alternate choice as after he pins em and wins the belt, he can brag in the Mania build how he beat em and Hogan couldnt. Plus he can add in how Hogan has never beat him fair and square.

We really should have gotten Hogan-Warrior 2. Not only was Sarge past his prime, but I remember some of the build was Sarge threatening to get counted out or DQed. That was a clear indicator that the WWF knew they needed to add some drama because did anyone think that Sarge was actually going to beat Hulk? I know that I didn't. Warrior's in-ring work wasn't exactly stellar, but he and Hogan made something at WM6 where the whole was greater than the sum of its parts. It's a shame that the WWF didn't try to capitalize on that. |

Wm7 main event was really predictable.
I personally think Hogan vs Sarge didn't need the belt.
Warrior vs Savage could have been Title vs career.
But sadly? Warriors title run was not what Vince wanted. Bottom line was? He wasn't as versatile as Hogan for working with folks.

We'd had no Bill Clinton, which means we would have had no Hillary Clinton which means no Donald Trump which ultimately means no Joe Biden.....Damn you Iraq!
But on to wrestling...I dont think they would have brought back Slaughter. Hogan-Warrior would have main evented if they kept the LA Coliseum...without it I could see Macho winning the title from Warrior at the Rumble and then having a Title vs Career match along those lines.

Agree with this. You go back to the formula of 400 plus pound heel for Hogan to go over. The war actually was a benefit for Bush and was seen as the favorite (he did lose a lot of the conservative base because he wasn't Reagan and was labeled counterfeit conservative). The poor economy was what did him in, along with things like looking at his watch during the town hall debate, and of course "No new taxes". |

Knowing Vince he'd go with Hulk Hogan vs. Tugboat. My guess is that Tugboat will become Typhoon and will be allies with Earthquake. Savage will still have a retirement match since he asked for a semi-retirement. Sgt. Slaughter will be the beloved GI JOE character with Vince selling more action figures of him. Slaughter might just last longer, have a great team for Survivor Series 1991 of American Heroes. |

One would have to turn heel and I doubt any of them would want to be a heel at that point. WM6 proved babyface vs. babyface isn't what the masses wanted (except kids, I remember my dad hating Warrior because of WM6 lol). With one of them heel maybe it'd work (especially since you can go on the house shows) |

Sarge had already turned heel before the Iraq War, so the Iraqi sympathizer schtick was just fuel to the fire. It has been talked about on many podcasts that Vince felt the need to get the title off Warrior and that Hogan hand-picked Slaughter to work with. So I think even without the Iraq stuff, we still would have seen Slaughter vs Hogan for the title at WM7. Sarge would have just been "anti-American" as opposed to an Iraqi supporter, and eventually they probably would have told the story that Hogan would ultimately be the one to turn Slaughter back to the light and "get his country back."
