Does anyone know how to get rid of the really bad, terrible smell on loose figures that you bought off on the bay? I won a bid on a loose DM Jericho for $13 plus shipping and it came in the mail today. When I opened it, it reeked of not only cigarette odor, but cigarette smell that fused with some really bad smell. I can't really describe the other odor, but it really makes you wanna throw up. I've washed it with both hand soap and dish soap (separately) by scrubbing it and letting it soak in for a good 10 mins each. Not only is the smell is there, but it's very strong and I can smell it on my hands after scrubbing the figure with soap.

Try an odor eliminator product. Make sure it's safe for plastic and rubber and paint of course. Soap doesn't do a damn thing.

Toss it in some tupperware with a healthy amount of baking soda and let it sit for a few days.

Possibly in a bag of soap with water. Does it smell like booty?

Possibly in a bag of soap with water. Does it smell like booty? Lmfaooo smells worse than booty. I really don't know how to describe it. Smells kind of like cigarette odor fused with a piece of metal that's been mixed with copper mixed with a burnt fuse. It's probably not even the right description, but it's really strong though. Gives you a headache every time the smell goes through your nostrils and it really makes you wanna vomit. The main odor that you can definitely sniff is cigarette though. The odor is also currently on my hands and I can't get rid of the smell from my hands.

odoban.com/products/The few times Ive gotten figures that smelled like smoke, Ive sprayed them down with Odoban, let them soak in soapy water for a couple days and repeated until the smell went away. If you have a safe places outside away from the sun to set stuff (as in a shed or garage) you can also let them air dry...That takes some of the Odoban smell away as well

Soap does nothing, I can promise you that, and, on top of that, if you're trying to wash it without gloves, you'll have a heck of a time getting the stink off you as well short of lavasoaping the skin away.
Mythbusters did an ep ages ago on methods to remove cig smoke. IIRC, nothing worked. Every method they tried, you can't get the smell out.
As a former smoker myself, I'm telling you now, short of extended, repeated washing with powerful ish, and copious amounts of time, no conventional methods will get that smell out. I've had items I bought from obvious chain smokers, while being a smoker myself, and even 8 years later, they're still in a bin because I can't stand the smell. And that was a metal item. Plastic is far more porous and will retain smells longer.
I don't know how to help you. Although, if you smell something besides just cig smoke, it could be mold, at which point, throw the figure in the dumpster immediately. Even a little mold in your house can spread and then your entire damn house will smell like that.

This happened to me once when I ordered a loose lot of figures. I just washed them with Dawn soap and the smell went away.

They call that The Beast, you need a priest to get rid of it!
Return immediately or throw it out and take the loss as a learning experience. Do NOT introduce the figure into your collection. Once The Beast infects the other figures your collection will be done. Cleaning, spraying, scrubbing only masks The Beast, you think you’ve defeated it so you put the fig in a bin with others. A week later The Beast has rejuvenated stronger than ever and you’ve ruined a full bin.
$13? Throw it out, give informative feedback to other buyers, move on.

Boil it and then let it dry, ziplock it with several dryer sheets to absorb the smell for 12-24hrs. If you notice a difference, rinse and repeat until its good to go, if that doesnt work id suggest file a claim and refund. Always buy from smoke free home or ask before purchase!

Did the seller even mention it came from a home with smokers? Toss it in a zip lock bag with dryer sheets for a couple of days. That should do the trick.

I used to work in the restaurant industry many years ago and used to use lemon juice to get strong odors off of my hands. It really helped when handling garlic or breaking down fish. Not sure how the acidity would react to plastic, but should help get rid of the smell on your hands. Definitely sounds like you got yourself a butt figure.

If there’s no way to get rid of the smell of just toss the figure, either way I’d be sure to write a bad review on that seller so that way no one else has the same problem
