If this is in the wrong board, I’m sorry.
I was looking at a weird little trend I had noticed and it hit me. The McMahon family has been running wrestling shows for 70 years five or take, but has never kept one promotion name for longer than 20 years or so. The first name of Jess(Vince’s grandfather) McMahon’s promotion was the Capitol Wrestling Corporation from 1953 to 1963, just a decade. Then the name WWWF only last from 63 to 79 which is only 16 years, then as WWF from the remainder of 79 to 2002, which is just 23 years. So if the trend is to be considered, WWE might have something come up that could warrant yet ANOTHER name change. I recognize that nothing is evident to warrant such a consideration, but none of the reasons for the previous name changed were suspected either.
This is more for funsies than anything, so don’t take this as me saying the name is bound to change.
Do you think it will be WWE forever? If not, could you imagine what name it might take on? Or we can discuss how correlation does not equal causation and discuss the nature of fallibility when it comes to interpreting data as I am bored lol
I personally wish they had gone with “Enterprises” as it’s still fancy, but doesn’t take the hot steaming dump on kayfabe that “entertainment” does

You could say it's already been changed. It's gone from World Wrestling Federation to World Wrestling Entertainment to simply WWE

As an aside it's kind of staggering how the industry itself crumbling from mainstream popularity practically coincided with the change from WWF to WWE.

As an aside it's kind of staggering how the industry itself crumbling from mainstream popularity practically coincided with the change from WWF to WWE. It was a crazy coincidence. One issue was the sheer amount of hotshotting that had been done the prior 5 years or so. If any other promoters had been the final say besides Eric and Vince for WCW and WWF, those other promoters would have made 20 years worth of angles out of the 4 years of hotshotting they did. They basically scorched the metaphorical soil in terms of booking. Even with the increased television schedule, a smart Booker could have made the good times last way longer if they hadn’t had a maniac with an essentially endless budget trying to kill their company.
