I havent really posted much here in the "other figures" forums, but I was just wondering if there were any fellow DC Direct collectors on here? I collect WWE/TNA etc,Marvel Legends, and various Spawn/Macfarlane figures, and there seems to be plenty of interesting topics and discussions on all those...buut nothing really on DC Direct. So basically, its a curiosity thing. Why are there not many DC collectors out there? Is it perhaps because of the distribution of the figures......the lack of playability(for the younger crowd)....the price tags(which I admit can get out of control) ....or is it that there are'nt really that many DC readers/fans in comparison to Marvel? Again ,this is simply a curiosity....even around town the majority of collectors are focused on just about every other line in existence and not so much on DC Direct( with the exception of a few older DC figs). So whats the popular vote here on WFIGS? DCD= crap....or DCD= cool.........

The DC Direct costumer base is certainly a lot smaller than most other toy lines featuring major characters. If you're buying DC Direct figures, you're probably a die-hard DC Comics reader. And there's certainly a lot less of those than diehard Marvel readers, and especially less than casual comic readers that might see a Marvel Legend at TRU and pick it up.
The main thing that prevents me from buying a lot of DC Direct figures is that every line looks different. I don't want a Jim Lee designed Batman, a Ed McGuiness designed Captain Marvel and a Michael Turner designed Hawkman. Those wouldn't look good standing next to each other. And I don't thave the money to get each character as designed by each artist (especially since they bare a $15-20 price tag). If DC Direct produced a line of every major character in a generic style ala ML, or in the style of one artist, I'd probably buy just about everyone from the DCU. That's why I like the Batman Hush figures, because all the Batman characters share the same design style, and the Alex Ross Justice series.

I am a big fan of DC Direct. They have produced figures of almost every character I have wanted from the DC Universe like Guy Gardner, Doomsday, Lobo, Firestorm, etc.
Occasionally I will post topics about upcoming DC Direct lines or wish lists. They usually get only a few responses, so they soon disappear into past page oblivion.
I think that the biggest reason that there aren't as many DC Direct fans on this site is the fact that this is a wrestling figure forum. There are other figure sites that are more expansive of their topics of action figures.
Beyond that, those who frequent this backwater other-figure forum probably are not as big of DC Direct fans because of the prices. As hard as Marvel Legends can be to find, even an average secondary market price of a hard to find Marvel Legends figure can be less than a common DC Direct figure (I'm not talking chase figures, I mean like Cable from series 6 or Iron Man from series 8).
It is interesting that Marvel Legends has a difficult time making obscure characters with the risk of them not selling. However, DC Direct has made some incredibly obscure characters over the years (such as Phantom Stranger, Tomar Re, Phantom Lady, the Legion of Superheroes...) and can continue to do so because of their limited distribution and in turn their high prices.

I think ppl are just starting to recollect them. Up until like a year ago they really sucked and just looked like run of the mill avg figures. Nowadays i think thewy are some of the best looking figures i own. I love how they feature indiviual artists with their figures.

I will agree that not every figure displays well with each other. And,even though I have the entire ML line thus far,I do not have the intention of collecting every DC figure .That said ,I do have an expansive DC collection ,thanks in part to the fact that they do make some mighty obscure guys. For the most part I have concentrated on trying to collect full teams(All the JLA..Ross and the older ones) the Teen Titans, and as many of my favorite villians as possible.Plus I am really into the Hush and Kingdom Come lines.I think you all made great points concerning the lack of attention these figures get on here(and in general) but its still good to know that there are at least some of you guys who have an interest in them........and to John Smoltz who posted above me.........I would damn near kill for a Dr Fate..lol.........thanks for the replies guys

Dr. Fate is an awesome figure. I got him for around $25 on ebay, but I have seen him go for more. But he was a high priority figure for me.
