Off the top of my head the ones that come to mind are,
Big Boss Man Vs Me. Perfect
I loved the feud between Boss Man and the Heenan Family, it is probably my favourite Heenan feud. However, Boss Man failing to win th Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania kind of left the ending to this flat. Granted, Bret Hart being the one to take the title from Perfect was the right decision, but it still left this feud that has been going for months without a proper ending.
Shawn Michaels Vs Tatanka
Looking back, I still feel this was a huge mistake. Tatanka was super over and I always felt he should have won the title here. Like the previous match I just mentioned, I liked how things turned out as HBK Vs Jannetty on Raw was awesome.
Shawn Michaels Vs Crush
Good ol' HBK as much as I love him has anyone lost more titles with out getting their shoulders pinned than him 🤣 like Tatanka, Crush was super over and I always felt as Intercontinental Championship reign was for him even if he won it here and Doink cost him the title at Raw the next night would have been good.
I am sure more will come to mind as I think about this more.

The big one for me was Luger v Yokozuna Summerslam 93.
The Lex Express investment, supposed one time only shot etc, the booking in the lead up to it practically told you that he was the going to win the title. But alas, no.

The first one that springs to mind for me is Reigns/Lesnar at WM34. I'm not surprised Brock threw the belt at Vince as soon as he walked through the curtain.

Though, I think his reign would have been short, maybe holding on to it for a PPV or two, then losing it back to Vader. Davey Boy was really over at this time, probably Sting and Flair were the only ones more popular at the time. |

Great list, a lot of these really hurt the person/team when they didn't win. The main ones would be Luger at SSL93, Perfect at SSL93, Tatanka over HBK at WM9, and Luger again at WM10. Luger not winning at SSL93 when he was at his most popular point, hurt his credibility in the eyes of the fans. Then, he finally gets his rematch, only to come up short again, I really think that face Luger was done at this point. Bret and Taker were clearly past him at this point, with Razor very close, if not even. And you had Diesel catching on by the end of the year. Though, had he won the belt at WM10 over Yoko, only to lose it to Bret later that night, I can't see that being any better for him. Perfect really needed a big win with his return in 1992/93, I think holding the belt for a short while in 1993 would have helped his return, but losing three straight PPVs to Luger, Bret and HBK, didn't help, and he didn't do much after this. Though, I believe his back was still an issue, and didn't help as well. It really looked like Tatanka was on his way to the IC title, they built him up really well, and he was really popular at the time. Winning by count-out over HBK at WM9 didn't help, but not getting a rematch and then getting the win definitely hurt him. From there, he was pushed down the card and put in a feud with Bam Bam, then used as fodder to get over Ludvig Borga. Next, he was back to feuding with Bam Bam, then he was put in a go-no-wear feud with IRS. I think the best thing for him would have been for Luger to turn on Tatanka and join the Million Dollar Corporation. This way you have Tatanka as the guy the fans can root for to get back at Luger, and he would have been in a big feud with Luger at the time at the top of the card - it may have rejuvenated his run. For Orndorff, I really think he needed to win one of those matches against Hogan, even if he cheated to do so. The match in Toronto or the cage match on SNME would have been a good time to do it. I could definitely see him winning the belt through outside interference over Hogan at the Big Event in Toronto, then lose it back to him at SNME in the cage match. This way Hogan has the belt to start towards WM3 with Andre. Though, it would have been interesting to see Orndorff win over Hogan at The Big Event, then they do the SNME cage match with the tie finish, with Orndorff keeping the belt. It looks like Hogan has lost the belt for good. Then on the following SNME have a baby face Andre takes on Orndorff for the title, with Hogan in Andre's corner and Heenan in Orndorff's corner. In the match, have Andre turn heel, with the help of Heenan, and win the title. Then have Hogan run in and ask Andre what's going on, only to have Andre attack Hogan and leave him laying, then walkout as Champion with Heenan. It would be a double-turn situation, with Andre turning heel and aligning with Heenan, and Orndorff turning back face (eventually when he returns to get revenge on Heenan and the family). Then you set up WM3 of heel champion Andre vs. Hulk Hogan. Andre gets a short run with the belt, and at WM3, Hogan gets his belt back with the win over Andre. |

Rock not winning at 16 turned out for the best. Sh#tty dead crowd & an overstuffed ME.
Backlash 2000 was an awesome dramatic match with a blistering hot crowd plus Austin had clearance to participate.
I thanks the wrestling gods daily Austin wasn't cleared to return at WM2000 & Vince had to push plans down the road to Backlash
