How does Everyone Catalog their Collection

Excel Spreadsheet. Categorized by character, line, series, retailer, release year, price paid (nice to see how much I spend over time given how expensive the hobby can be), accessories added/removed, and location (storage/closet,etc.). Does the trick especially when I’m out and about and see something I may or may not have.

Collection is loose, and just last year I reorganized.

Each figure is bagged, and the accessories to that figure is in a smaller bag, in the bag with the figure.

Each figure is placed in the appropriate box, which I have set up as eras. I had a thread last year asking opinions about eras that helped me organize this.

So in general I have Pre-80s, Golden Era up to and including WM3, Golden Era 2 that goes through 92, New Generation, Attitude Era, Ruthless Aggression, PG, Reality Era, and am now in a Pandemic/Current era, but am thinking I may make Vince's Retirement a demarcation line for a new start of an era. I also have separate boxes for WCW eras, Classic ECW, other Indies, and such.

That said, I have figures mixed in by company, so it is not all specifically Mattel, or whatever. Like the Golden Era boxes have mostly Mattel figures, but have Jakks Classic Superstars of figures that have not been redone by Mattel (yet). Classic Superstar King Haku for instance is in the Golden Era 2 box. The goal for me is to get them out and display them as need be, which is usually when I have a Royal Rumble party or Wrestlemania party when I have friends over for the PPV.

I keep track of them all on a list that is just a word document. I tend to go through the year picking up figures, and every 6 months or so - whenever I get a big pile - I open them, catalog them, and get them in their appropriate boxes.

I used to keep a note on my phone of what I was missing but since I slowed down a lot more I don’t have anything and just pick up what I like around its release time. I don’t collect current guys so it’s easier

I use the Funko app for my Pops(there's no way I can remember what Pops I have if I didn't use it) but WWE,AEW,Marvel Legends,Brawlers and TMNT stuff,I just try to remember what I have. 

wrestling figure database is so close to this. Fig Heel's book is also an option

I just have a list on my laptop on wordpad.

It’s divided up between WWE/AEW/line/exclusives/etc.

A note on my phone, and I also take front and back MISB photos of everything before/if I open something.

Ideally I'll have time to make an Excel spreadsheet at some point though. Collection is getting out of hand lol.
