I'm just going though 2010 again and they made such an impact, i consider there debut one of the most shocking things of the pg era and one of the best debuts they could have had, the destruction to the ring and everyone just made them feel like a big deal, I always felt they should have lasted a lot longer and maybe they could have lasted for 1-3 years but the Summerslam loss really hurt them where they didn't really recover.
I feel if they had the victory and made to look strong they could have lasted, I also feel there was a chance to make them look strong again by having Barrett win the WWE Champion.

Wade Barrett wins the WWE Championship instead of Miz in Fall 2010 and goes on to face John Cena at Wrestlemania 27.

The booking at Summerslam killed them stone dead. I also never seen the "it factor" in Wade Barrett if I'm honest but it might have been more obvious if they hadn't booked this so poorly

I think it was too bloated and not talented enough to go on much longer than it did. I liked it a lot but it was 7 guys who were brand new to the audience, all still learning to wrestle in a lot of ways (or at least the 'WWE' style). On top of that, it was during WWE's 2010 year which creatively was exhausted and careless.
All things considered I'd say that best case scenario was that Barrett wins the WWE title in late 2010. Then he'd enter Elimination Chamber as champion, lose it to Cena, and then Miz would cash in. We still get Miz Vs Cena in a snoozefest main event and I assume the Nexus have some pretty random multi-man tag match before crumbling later that year.
I say these things with only love for the Nexus. I was 12-13 years old during the Nexus and I was super into them as I was really peaking in wrestling fandom during this time as a pre-teen boy.

They were never going to succeed. Apart from Barrett they were all a bunch of clones with similar movesets.
I personally felt that The Core was a much better group.

Couldโve and shouldโve lasted longer and actually done something to help those guys. But Cenawinslol just watched the summerslam match and that was one of the worst endings possible, it just ended way to quick after they were both hurting Cena, a missed 450 splash eliminated Gabriel and i don't think Barrett did to much in the match but was eliminated less than 1 minute after Gabriel. Also didn't help they were New Nexus after not even 6 months.

It almost drove me right back of out WWE

I think Wade Barret, Maybe a Outanga and Ryback would of went some decent length. Mainly Wade Barret could of been fairly big star in 2011-2014 Era WWE.

The only member they had that was even main roster ready was fired after the first night. Barrett got good but the guy had absolutely no business being in the WWE title picture in 2010. Summerslam 2010 should have been the end.

I didn't see anything in any of them. All came from the robot armdrag era of WWE developmental. They all wrestled the same & had little outside of midcard jobber to the stars level

About the same as what happened when they lost. Theyโd have still done the storyline afterwards where Cena was their slave and eventually beat them. That still wouldโve worked with CM Punkโs injury timeline, takeover of the group. And his contract wouldโve still led to Money in the Bank 2011. So no real change other than SummerSlam 2010 wouldโve had a different result.
