*Note: I am writing this respectfully and under the full request of Admin regarding CM Punk. Please keep the thread as objective and positive as possible.
Would you have Punk work full-time or part-time? I ask this for several reasons.
1) CM Punk has a higher risk of injury, most notably 2 lengthy injuries from his short run in AEW. It wouldn't be surprising to experience another injury simply based on his history and that he spent the majority of his time outside of WWE not in a ring.
2) Punk seems to be excited and in a good mood since returning, thankful that the fans are reacting, etc. Once he's well acquainted and back into the mix of the roster and is no longer the center of attention things may change. We know business plans are dynamic and ever-changing and impossible to work in every talent's favor all the time, and that Punk can struggle to be a team player. I believe Punk's volatile personality may benefit from a limited schedule to reduce opportunity for backstage disagreement/conflict (not throwing shade, this is well documented). Such history has ended past runs and would likely be the quickest way to end this run over a career-ending injury, etc.
3) Punk is 45, and unfortunately for us wrestling fans, spent most of his time away since 2014 not wrestling. In addition to the factors above, he is older than typical wrestlers and can only sustain a high level of matches for so long. He also has a more moderate technical style - he's not a powerhouse, not a high flyer, not a spot monkey, not really a brawler. Most of his a opponents will have to meet Punk's own limitations in the ring. I'm guessing he has another 3 good years, and as he approaches 50, will be severely limited in his ability, and that's assuming this run goes smoothly.
In summary, what kind of schedule would you have for him based on the above? I think given we're nearly to the RTWM, Punk should be used extremely sparing in matches. Would you reserve matches for PPV's with TV appearances and promos? Would you have him work TV matches? Singles? Only tags to limit injury risk? Should he work a schedule like Edge where his TV appearances are very rare? Like Reigns? Or would you have him like Cody Rhodes and go full-time TV every week? I hope this stimulation some healthy discussion. Again, please keep the thread positive and on-topic.
