Does anyone watch this series? Its from a tuber called Wrestlingbios & it compares every episode of Nitro and Raw from Sept 95 to the end of the war. He's currently in the Summer of 1999. I'm playing catchup and am just entering January 1998. he also breaks down the PPVs. Hes pretty witty and he is fairly funny at times too.
I mention it because for any fan of the era I think its essential. His presentation of the episode analysis is very good IMO and Im currently finding myself constantly surprised by what I'm seeing in 1997.
WCW is already riddled with angles and story's that go nowhere while being heavily repetitive & WWF has slowly strengthened since the WM13 fallout with much tighter narratives and compelling TV. Now that's not to say WWF didn't have some top shelf sh*t on there too because they did or that WCW didn't have some excellent stuff but I was def viewing 97 WCW through rose colored lenses.
Just one example....Sting is the silent avenger...coming to take revenge on the nWo and stalking them relentlessly. But Eric & Hogan did a promo about him being in this romcom and how he wants to be Hogan and how he isn't here fighting the nWo because he is trying to be a movie star.
good GOD!! why would they do that???
Anyway in the unlikely event you haven't checked out this series and are a big MNW era fan like myself? check it out....

I have seen some of his stuff. He's very good at going in depth
Really enjoyed his Nailz retrospective and the whole Roma/Wright incident from SB 95

Wrestling Bios is up there with OSW and Wrestling With Wregret in my opinion.
He puts out great content regularly and goes into great detail. The "Reliving the War" series is fantastic. He even donated 100% of the revenue generated from his 1999 Over the Edge and Raw is Owen recaps to the Owen Hart Foundation.
I also enjoy that he covers all things wrestling for example he dropped a new review just this afternoon discussing the 90s video game Saturday Night Slam Masters.

I've been watching from the start, it definitely helped me unwind during lockdown. I love the back stories he makes up for Steve Blackman & it's made me appreciate some others like Alex Weight & Norman Smiley.

hadnt heard of it, but ima check it out You should man...If your into this era(like I am)its fascinating doing the head to heads of each episode. My God both company's were putting out some crap in 95 LOL... On a side note I'm into Jan 1998 on this series and here's Marty Jannetty, John Nord and Rick Martel all getting TV time on Nitro. Mind blowing...and over in the WWF the f*ckin Rock N Roll Express are on Raw...LOL its more like 1989.

Shame what happened in the end though with the knee injury

He also does good research for his vids. Chris Adams as a jobber is how I first became aware of him. Even after seeing more of his early career I wasnât ever impressed though.

I knew Adams from the Apter mags so I was kind of excited to see him because I never had. It passed quickly....I'm surprised he wasn't put in a faction with Regal & Dave Taylor..LOL

Love this series and the Wrestling Bios page in general. Been watching for years and itâs easy to throw one of his videos on in the background while doing other stuff.

Im up to July 1998 now...WCW is quite literally the same thing weekly. But why would they change...even though Raw is beating them in the ratings they are still getting over a 4.0 in the ratings and The Wolfpac is over huge. Bischoff even admits himself he missed a trick there not listening to Hall & Nash about the group, name and its membership.

I believe it may have been from a Nash shoot where he says originally tension between Hogan and Nash was suppose to build following Starrcade â97, but âthat didnât workâ for Hogan as he wanted the nWo to stay togetherâŠhowever a week later all of a sudden theyâre running with Macho Man as the one stepping up to Hogan. Nash says it was originally planned to be Nash/Hall going against Hogan/Macho but Hogan thought the Wolfpac had too many âcool guysâ so they kept Hall with him. Crazy how despite all the randomness that the Wolfpac still got over big. Iâll always say that Sting joining never made sense, and the quick Hennig join/turn was dumb, but nothing was cooler than Nash, Macho, Luger, and Konnan donning the red and black that summer.

Iâll always say that Sting joining never made sense, and the quick Hennig join/turn was dumb, but nothing was cooler than Nash, Macho, Luger, and Konnan donning the red and black that summer. Hall & Nash both said that HBK told them for the long term plans for DX...adding the Outlaws & going face. HBK wanted it done in January but Vince said no-too much already going on with Tyson so hold off until after WM season. Nash in particular liked the sound of this hip DX style faction and it was obviously going to be the rest of the Kliq members & guys that fit the DX bill like Konnan and Bagwell. Hall also advocated for the faction NOT to be nWo just Wolfpac. Waltman being fired didn't really change their idea for the group. Nash Hall Bagwell Konnan Hennig vs Hogan Macho Steiner Giant Vincent Disciple Adams Norton etc etc. Bagwell & Hall was vetoed as joining By Bischoff himself because it wouldnt feel like a real Civil War with the Outsiders on the same side. But he admits in hindsight this was a mistake because Bagwell had massive face sympathy when he returned...he should have been in Wolfpac after Hollywood binned him. Would have been huge. if you remember? the first blows thrown between nWo members were Nash attacking Savage.....everyone always blames Hogan for politicking in WCW but Savage was fairly handy at it too....

Watching into Sept 98 & WCW Nitro is really getting nonsensical. But on Vinces side Austins hotness is covering how WAFER thin WWFs main event talent pool is.
Vince has 2 bona fide Main Eventers...Austin & UT. Rock & HHH are en route but not there yet...Kane was never a true main eventer & Austin has beaten Foley decisively.
Great viewing.
