Kite turns and comes face to face with the gun.
I point the gun at his chest, his eyes dart down at the gun in disbelief, he had no idea what was coming.
Kite: What are you doing?
Voice: Kill him, pull the trigger.
I decide that listening to the voice in my head is not the best thing to do in a situation like this.
Kite: Don’t be stupid, why are you doing this.
-- Flashback –
Kara: So, you’re sure that you can get this done.
She’s wearing a very sort skirt, and knee high boots, god what am I doing?
Kara: Are you listening to me?
I look up and see her staring straight at me, she has big blue eyes. I am so out of my depth here.
Trace: Don’t worry about me.
Kara: You know the plan right.
How can I not, it’s been drilled into my skull for the past ten hours.
Trace: Get in, take them out, and call you.
Kara: Don’t put your life in danger though.
Trace: Sounds like you’re worried about me.
She grins at me, and flashes me a wink.
Kara: Don’t push your luck, and don’t kill anyone.
I look up at her.
Trace: I can’t promise that.
She laughs.
Trace: I’m not joking.
Silence.
-- Flashback over –
Kite stands there, staring at me. I walk up to him; I can see the fear in his eyes, the same eyes which previously were filled with confidence. What a feeble old man, just trying to play god.
Voice: Kill him, come on. Don’t be boring; put a bullet in his head.
I don’t think that being boring is a big enough reason to shoot somebody.
Voice: Is.
I think I will take things from here.
Voice: You are so boring.
Shut up. You shouldn’t even be here, I am not crazy.
Voice: Are.
God, just shut up.
Voice: For someone who doesn’t believe in god you sure talk about him a lot.
Will you just...
Voice: Sorry, I’m shutting up.
Now lets get back to business.
Kite: You don’t have the guts to shoot me.
I can hear it in his voice, he isn’t sure if I am capable or not.
Kite: Go on then, do it.
His voice is getting louder, angrier, I better stop him before Roxy and Brute here him.
Voice: That would be pretty bad.
You’ve got that right.
Trace: I’m not a killer, not like you.
I walk up to him and with one quick movement of my arm bring the barrel of the gun straight into his forehead. He slumps to the ground, his breathing heavy, his eyes glazed over.
Knocked out, not dead.
I pull a set of handcuffs that Kara gave me and connect him to the guard rail, he wont be going anywhere any time soon.
Voice: Handcuffs, Kara’s kinky.
Maybe if I survive this I can find out.
Voice: Hey, there two of use in here.
Maybe if you start pulling your weight around here.
Voice: How can I do that, I’ve got no arms.
Why you bas…
Voice: There’s still two more.
Right, I still have work to do.
I get out my phone and dial Kara’s number.
Kara: Hello.
Trace: It’s done, Kite is taken care off.
Kara: Right, stay there, don’t go anywhere.
She sounds glad.
Trace: Sorry, I can’t do that, there are still two more that I have to deal with.
Kara: Don’t be stupid…
I can hear her shouting as I hang up and leave my phone on the ground, making sure that there is no way Kite can escape I set off, down the stairs, looking for Roxy and Brute.
-- Flashback –
Roxy: So, you’re definitely in then.
Trace: Looks that way, doesn’t it.
Roxy: I knew you would, I know you to well.
I looked up at her, noticing the grin plastered across her face.
-- Flashback Over –
Voice: There they are.
I can see them, I’m not blind.
Voice: I’m just saying.
Both Roxy and Brute are standing on the platform below me, looking for the other generator. I grab the bar beside me and jump over it, landing a few feet away from Roxy and Brute. They both turn and look at me, obviously startled.
Roxy: Trace, what the hell.
Trace: Guess you don’t know me as well as you thought.
My arm flies out and my right fist collides with Brute’s skull, something cracks from the impact, and I am pretty certain it is not my fist.
Brute tries to shout something but he cant get the words out. Blood is trickling down from the side of his mouth, my first punch must have broken his jaw.
He swings a punch at me but misses by a mile, he is not focusing on me due to the pain.
Trace: Not as strong as you thought then.
Another right hook connects with the bridge of his nose and I hear another break. Brute falls backwards and smacks his head on the metal grating beneath. He is out cold instantly.
Trace: Game over Roxy, your done.
As I say it I hear noise coming from above me, Kara and her agents have arrived, and Kite’s mission is a failure.
Roxy stares at me in disbelief, tears trickling from both eyes.
Roxy: But why?
I grin.
Trace: Guess I just like a good fight.
