The dull light swings on the low roof overhead. The walls are grey and dull. A mirror is placed on the other side of the room, and a man sits opposite me. He is not exactly an imposing man; he looks more like the type to do accounts rather than a member of a cult. The man’s name is Robert Pryce, and he is a member of the Disciples. Kara sits next to me, and for once, I don’t care what she is wearing.
Voice: Well I do.
Not the time for your stupid comments.
Voice: Fine, why are we here anyway.
-- Flashback –
I have just arrived back in the states after a brief stint in Mexico. Kara decided to give me a lift in a helicopter, which might I say is pretty cool. We are standing in a hallway, the walls are grey and dull but the hall is bustling with life, government agents running around with jobs to do. Kara has apparently apprehended a member of the Disciples, a cult I used to be a part off, although eventually I was the reason for their downfall.
Kara: So, you’re sure you want to do this.
Voice: Well that’s nice, she cares about you.
Trace: I need to know what happened to my family, what the Disciples did to them.
Voice: Fine, ignore me.
Kara: You don’t know if they did anything to them, it could have just been a fire that killed them.
If only that was true.
Trace: Come on, I don’t have all day.
-- End Flashback –
Kara looks through some papers in front of her, while I just stare at the man in front of me.
Kara: So we caught you trying to cross the border into Mexico.
His facial expression doesn’t change; he is as calm as he was when I walked in here. I dont like it.
Robert: That’s right.
Kara: And why was that.
Voice: Now that’s a stupid question.
Robert: Why don’t you tell me?
Kara: Well we have you on a list of people that belong to the Disciples.
A grin spreads across his face. I fight off the temptation to jump across the table and kill the guy right now.
Voice: Do it!
Kara: Got anything to say?
Robert: Not really.
He has a smug look on his face, as if he has got away with something.
Kara: Tell us about the Disciples.
Robert: Why?
I slam my hand down on the table, making both the man in front of me and Kara jump, albeit only slightly. Robert looks at me, not realizing who I am.
Trace: Tell us about the Disciples before will break your neck.
I can see him trying to figure out if I am lying or not. I don’t move, ensuring that I keep eye contact. He flinches, and starts talking.
Robert: Fine, the Disciples are not a cult as you put it, but a group intent on spreading the truth to the people.
Trace: By truth you mean insane lies right.
Robert: What right do you have to question the Disciples?
That’s when I realize that the only way I am going to be able to get anything from him is to tell him the truth, or enough of it to get what I want.
Trace: I used to be a member of the Disciples.
I shout it at him, and his expression changes instantly, there was no way he could have been expecting this, to come face to face with an ex Disciple.
Robert: Wha… What?
Trace: Yeah, you may have heard of me, the name’s Trace Demon.
He gets up and out of his chair quickly, the chair crashes to the floor, an almighty bang fills the room. He flies for the glass and begins slamming his hands on the door.
Kara: What the hell?
He is screaming through the glass now.
Robert: Get me out of here!
Kara is up on her feet now, walking hurriedly over to him. She tried to pull him back to the seat but he brushes her hand off and runs to the door. I get up and walk up to him, he drops to the ground and sits against the wall, continuing to scream.
Robert: Don’t let him near me. Don’t let that beast Near me.
Kara turns to me, looking worried.
Kara: What the hell is he going on about?
Trace: I don’t know.
Voice: Well I do.
