I'm going through something similar. I plan on selling off most of my collection( for the second time...) and just keeping my Edges and stuff I really like. And then buying only what really catches my eye. Last time I sold my collection I made off well, so hopefully it's more of the same.

I cant believe I'm saying this, But I seriously think it's time I stop collecting. I'm at the point where collecting is costing too much money, it's taking up alot of time, it's pretty annoying, & sometimes I make regrets on what I buy. It's getting ridiculous. One RA is 9 bucks + tax.... Which means a 10 dollar bill gives you some change. The time it takes to go to stores and stuff and find figures is aggravating. I can sometimes regret what I buy, Which is a big annoyance. Seriously, I spent near 100 bucks on figures alone within 2 weeks. It's way too much money to be spending on toys. I like collecting and all, But the price of figures, Aggravation, And all of that is taking it's toll on me. It's getting too annoying and expensive. I just started buying Rocky figures now and thats more money now I'm spending. It's just too much at this point. You can buy one figure then another one is released a month later that has full detail. I just dont think I can do it anymore. I feel you, bro. I've decided to take a step back from collecting WWE figures for now. Now I'm focused on adding to my Batman figure collection.

I only buy the ones i want, won't be buying any of the new RA series', but i will the classic, also, if ur on eBay, make a few investments here an there, thats how in always keep money for figures, and money for other stuff.

Collecting and buying can get out of hand. I mostly look for the deals that I can get. I pre-pick what comes out. I set aside some money for them and go for the wrestlers I know. What I want in my collection is wrestlers who I am happy with. I hold back from getting re-paints or re-releases. One is enough for me. Though I do consider wrestlers like Hurricane and Helms different though it was the same person. I am not going to go collect two different Helms because the tights were painted different. Now I am Shawn Michaels fan and like collecting his figures. Though if I do find a better re-paint or better figure of one I got. I will go ahead get it and sell the old one. Pick your spots is a good term for collecting.

No johnnycollectsfigs, don't stop.
If you feel you do have to make some change, do it in a smart way. Only buy the figures you really actually like. Don't buy for quality or impulse. Commit to only buying ones you really like. Don't buy ones with minor changes, dont buy false products. The longer you can play the 'waiting game' you just may come out on top. Like Edge which i know is a huge piece of ammunition for how you feel. Just hold off on figures until it has reached your standards of liking. Dont feel you have to be a completionist if that is what you are thinking.
Just take the best and leave behind those which arent satisfactory no matter what.

i think the sentiments of most is for you to not stop alltogether but maybe just cut down a bit, instead of buying the "new" matt hardy, wait until there is one that you actually like. instead of spending $200 a month, spend $100. i spend about 80-$100 a month on figures, and i always end up getting what i want. example- RA29 matt hardy comes out, has the new scan, new pants, all that...i wanted it, but then i saw the ppv 16 fig (thanks to this board) and decided that would be a better option. so im going to get that instead. now instead of rushing out and buying the "new" matt hardy, im waiting a little and getting the other one, plus you dont have to just go to stores, there are 2 very good online wrestling figure sites that you can get something you really want from pretty easily. im not going to name names, but im sure you know which 2. i dunno man, if you've already devoted this much time, effort & money into a collection, why stop? just cut back a litle and you might find your "passion" again. everyone needs a little down-time

I came across the same path as far as collecting. I dumped just about everything including my CSTT1 sets and other hard to get figures because I felt for my age, I should go out and enjoy myself and life in general.
Tell you the truth, while I enjoy the retirement for collecting...there's always going to be that itch to get back into it, but only for a figure that I want. I could give a damn if something is going to be worth alot of money one day. To me, a dollar saved is a dollar earned....save that money, you never know when you are going to need it.
When you see a fig that you really (really) want, do yourself a favor and buy it. It's figures like those that you'll have a hard time looking back on and asking why you bought it in the first place. With a large collection, you tend to add things up and think what the heck you did with all of that money when you could spend it on other things. Also, with a large collection you tend to take what you have for granted.
No matter what you do, I wish you luck. It's a hard thing to give up on a hobby that you enjoy entirely. You'll have that itch to get back into collecting every so often like myself. You've got to be strong enough to conquer your addiction to buying everything and anything out there...

Once the Classic series ends, I'm done. I already only buy 1 to 3 classic figures per release, and even that is getting too expensive. Luckily I haven't fallen into the trap of DAs, simply because I don't have that kind of cash.

the ones you regret getting just trade them in the classifieds for ones you won`t regret.

When CS first started, I bought the whole sets, regardless of who was in them. I managed to collect the first 5 sets of CS (And still have them MOC), but when CS6 hit, my interest started to wane, and i ended up getting none from that series. It's only recently i have gone back and picked up some of CS6, and a few others from earlier series like CS7 and CS9 that i missed. After CS6, i only picked up what i liked from each series. Although I recently got the full CS14, and intend to get the last two i need from CS16, because i like them all. In CS8 though, for example, i only have the Hogans, Cheif and Vader, because the rest of the set didn't do "it" for me. Figure collecting does take up a lot of time, thought and planning, but i see no need to buy EVERY guy in each series. Maybe you should ask yourself which figs you really couldn't live without. Which ones do you think look amazing? Which ones bring back great memories? Who are your favourites? And most of all, who would you be better off without? Collecting is a hobby, it should be fun, not bringing you stress. Make it part of your life, not your whole life. Rearrange your collection into something new each week or something. I hope you manage to see light man, and come to a decision that is best for you

I to have definitely toned down my hunting and buying. For a while there I was buying damn near every set. Lately I get MAYBE 2-3 figures out of an RA set, stick to only buying repaints if its someone I really like. Used to go hunting for figures like 5 times a week. Now I only go if I know the sets I need are in stock. I have gone 2 weeks without stepping into a store.
I still enjoy them but I definitely couldn't keep buying them at that pace and being in stores searching everyday, that gets insane.

Yep, all those reasons are bassically the reasons as to why I'm in the process of selling all my figures. Its just too much.
