Honestly, who else could have held the title? HHH and Michaels out with injury, Umaga getting the quickest de-push ever, and with Orton being the biggest waste of talent on the brand by getting in some type of trouble every few months left Cena the only one who could people could actually believe as champion. Who else could win it? Carlito? Booker? Kennedy? If there was someone on the roster who could actually carry raw as the champion, I'd be all for a title change. Amen brother. Booker would've been a good alternative, but given the state of SD!, I'd rather see him there. Cena's worked a lot of matches, missed little time, hasn't got injured or got into trouble, and he draws fans. Even if they hate him, they're still taking the time to do so and say so.

While I'm not a fan of Cena, this makes me happy.
It's been so long since there has been a long reigning world champ.
I know HHH and JBL had 10 month reigns a few years back, but one that goes a solid year is just really cool to me.
I'm not especially happy that he might break savage's streak, but it's still cool that they're not doing the quick changes that so polluted the attitude era anymore.

nice. he's probably the only one deserving of it since savage. by that, i mean he has been far and above the best wrestler in the wwe for a year. Always rely on this man to speak the truth.

thats the worst assumption i have ever heard. No, the worst assumption is that John Cena is the best wrestler in the WWE if you're going by crowd reaction, merchandise, getting the fans excited during promos/matches, cena is head and shoulders above the rest of the roster.

It doesn't matter. History will see Cena's reign as just another Diesel reign, a year of bullcrap. I'll take Shawn Michaels holding the belt for some 8-months back in 96 with defenses over Bulldog, Vader, and Diesel over Cena against Khali, Umaga, and random ass matches at PPVs. Hell, even Triple H's 10 months of doom was more entertaining.

He came back in SummerSlam.

Cena sells out crowds, merchandise stands & numerous other variations of ways for WWE to make a profit. Carlito, Kennedy & MVP together could not maintain that level of responsibility at this point in their careers. Face it, John Cena is the face of WWE during this current era and much like the Hogan's and Steve Austin's before him, he will continue to be heavyweight champion and main-eventer of Raw unless an injury or movie role comes his way. This is exactly why wrestling has become less of a joy for me. Kids love this guy, for God knows whatever reason, thus making him reign even longer. Truth is, you're right, but I obviously don't like it. He wouldn't have lasted one month in the Attitude Era, something I think of as a sort of "golden age". So you're right about Cena basically carrying the buisness, but I for one really don't like what the WWE and the child fans are doing to the title AND Cena. for one i am sick of you bunghole fans dissing the kids . wrestling is about the kids not your grown up ass & WWE has always been about the kids since the 80's . it is all about the kids . they are the future wrestling fans not you. also i sick of hereing about the Attitude Era as a golden age . Attitude Era was not even close to golden age . the real golden age was the 80's not Attitude Era.all the Attitude Era was spead up crap . the matches on tv were nothin but 3 mins & that is bull crap. there were too many proms. you are just mad the WWE went back to 80's way of wrestling & that is best era of WWE . they gave you matches they lasted more then 15 minutes . . cena is the new age hogan get over it & who says he is going to make it one year . orton could win it a unforgiven.

At this point I would not be surprised if Cena has a reign longer than Savage.

Yeah with all this Steroid stuff, Cena is the only guy on the roster worthy of holding the title for a year... After all, Cena is leading the WWE and trying his damndest to keep them in a good light by having a clean attitude...
