I was watching some football highlights last night from week 1 and there was a fumble and the voice over guy says ''___ Botches the hand off." Correct me if I'm wrong but i thought the word botch was only a wrestling term.

botch Function: transitive verb Etymology: Middle English bocchen 1 : to foul up hopelessly -- often used with up 2 : to put together in a makeshift way - botch·er noun
And while we're on the subject, guess what? "Mark" isn't originally a wrestling term either.

Wow, sorry, but this is the least informative post I've ever entered. That says something about ones intelligence. So yeah, to stay on topic, botch is relative to any mistake, an overshot in basketball or a screw-up during an opperation.

So I turned on the TV the other day, and "Mystery" said someone "botched" a perfectly good "two-set".
I'm sorry, but The Pick Up Artist is a guilty pleasure. Not as enjoyable as Beauty and the Geek, however.

Kayfabe is pretty much only a wrestling term, mark is not. Mark is used for anyone who is played for a fool by someone else, like in a scam.

Kayfabe is pretty much only a wrestling term, mark is not. Mark is used for anyone who is played for a fool by someone else, like in a scam. In fact, that was even the original wrestling definition of the term, dating back to the Carnival days. If you believed that what you were seeing was real, you had fallen for the scam; you were a "mark."
