The Sandman had been nothing but a model employee for the majority of his WWE run. He's been known to turn up early, suggest ways he can help put other guys over and do everything that is asked of him. This being said it was a shock to see the ECW original fired.
Early sources indicate that The Sandman may have shown up less than 100% to work during a recent international tour.
PWInsider.com also notes that on the plane ride home he might have exchanged words with road agent Ricky Steamboat.
The general Sandman character is also considered to be distasteful with the pending Congressional hearings.
Didn't see it posted.

if it was say, Batista, 'ol Steamboat would have gotten the boot. ummm distasteful? sandmans been here in WWE again for over a year, and being distasteful contributes to his fireing. yet stone cold has been here for like 12 years, smashing beers into the crowd, stunning people left and right (like caning) and hes still working. Hell stone cold even threw the beer bash, where fans got beer even if they were underaged. nobody checked ID's. if you looked 21, you got beer.

Nothing about being drunk? DAMN! Well, if it says "less than 100%," he was probably showing up sober.

It's a shame that they keep trash like Austin around, but give the boot to someone that's actually entertaining like the Sandman.

To be honest, I wouldn't be suprised if WWE didn't release Sandman over this lawsuit thing. Perhaps not having them on their roster is their way of seperating him as an "independant contractor" like they've been trying to claim since this incident occured. Perhaps they'll bring him back once that crap ends.

I bet even if he exchanged words with Steamboat, I dont think he's the kind of guy to get someone fired over it. I think it has more to due with the lawsuit than anything else, WWE probably doesnt want to be connected to that bullcrap.

It's ridiculous the way backstage politics work. You can be a model employee and do whatever the company asks without making a peep, but you say one wrong thing to somebody and your ed. Then, you have guys like Randy Orton who could slap Ricky Steamboat in the face with his dick and Vince would probably give him a raise.

it's official.. the wwe has lost their ballz.
they worry too much about offending people.. when that was made them popular back in the 90s.. austin throwing the finger.. drinking beer.. people talking to plastic heads
the bottom line is.. the wwe is a company that doesnt seem to know which direction to go.. its really sad.
