^^ 100% true.
i talked to kurt and i asked him if vince would have ever guessed he would go to tna, and kurt said "no way he would never have let me go" and the way he said it, you know he was planning to go to TNA right when he stepped into Vince's office.

He lied by telling WWE he needed his release because of injuries. Yep this is right. He did lie to WWE. He told them he needed to heal and take care of personal issues and asked for them to release him. They complied. Kurt then put up a letter on WWE.com saying he will be back in WWE once he was healed. And said the road took alot out of him. And he needed to mend things with his wife. And he thanked WWE for everything they did and for being so understanding. And thanked the fans. He then signed with TNA about 2 weeks later.

It all comes down to the $Dolla Dolla$ bro. I highly doubt TNA could afford to pay him anywhere near what he was making in the WWE. He was a main eventer for years.

Don't listen to most of the people here on this topic. The internet fans have been so flip-flop in recent years. Before he went to TNA everyone was pro-Kurt Angle and then the second he debuted everyone started in with the "Kurt Angle sold out" threads and sigs. It's ridiculous. Isn't it possible that he wasn't happy with the crappy WWE product and he wanted out?

That's a loaded statement from a guy who has the Champion of the watered-down knock-off of a once great company in his sig. Now, that statement isn't meant as a slam against Punk . . . . but if you think that TNA is worse than the pathetic "new ECW", then you're out of your mind.

No one here really knows the whole story because neither Angle nor the WWE have really addressed the issue. What is known is that he asked for his release, was given it and immediately debuted w/TNA. I personally part of it was the creative thing. The WWE was not going to push Angle the way TNA has. Can you imagine Vince putting every single belt in the company (or on one brand for that matter) on one guy for any reason? Please, not even Trips has enough backstage pull to get that kind of treatment. Couple that with a lighter schedule and a cemented spot as top dog for life and you've got some good reasons to jump. Plus, it was rumored that the WWE was going to force him to take some time off because of the injuries and he didn't want to.
