Yeah also TNA is an easier schedule for superstars to work compared to WWE so its possibly a factor in causing Angle to leave.

WWE released him from his contact saying once he gets healed up, rested up & got off the drugs ( I HEARD he needed pain killers to have a match). TNA basically saw a chance & took it & swooped him up. Kurt still had that "itch" for the business & signed with TNA & here we are today.

I think money wasn't his issue. He wanted to do what he loved - wrestle.

Some say he asked for his release, some say he was released similar to the way Joey Mercury was.

He lied to WWE and just went to TNA. He was released, and signed with TNA. Yeah, definitely blatant lying.

He said he wanted time off to heal and deal with his drug dependency. He lied.

*sigh*
He requested his release from WWE for quite some time apparently, but they would not give him it. He said his body needed a break, but Vince McMahon would not give him one. So it was a mutual decision between the two to part ways.
Kurt Angle decided during his time off that he wanted to be closer to his family (He just got back together with his wife) and that going to TNA would be the healthier and more reasonable option.

He said he wanted time off to heal and deal with his drug dependency. He lied. No he didn't. He did take time off - then decide that instead of going back to the WWE in a few months he could go back to wrestling & still rest up/spend time with his family (he just got back with Karen) because of the lighter schedule.

He was told to go home because he was a total wreck and couldn't set foot in a ring without something tearing, (He suffered two tears in his last WWE match with RVD, one in the groin and one in the arm). WWE demanded he take time off and go to rehab for his painkiller addiction and he refused and demanded his release citing personal problems at home. WWE gave him his release from his contract early with no strings attached, meaning they would stop paying him and he could work anywhere he wanted, partly because WWE assumed that he was in no condition to work anywhere at the time (these meeting were described as being "heated"). Angle signed with TNA shortly after, as there was no road schedule and shows were taped giving him plenty of time to spend at home with his family and plenty of time for recovery between shows.
