www.wwe.com/inside/overtheropes/news/cenakidschoiceukLONDON – WWE Champion John Cena has been nominated by the Nickelodeon UK Kids’ Choice Awards for Best Sports Personality. Nickelodeon is the No. 1 kids’ network in the United Kingdom. “It’s a great feeling to be nominated. There are a lot of people who have different views on what I do – my set of ethics, my set of morals. I’m one of those guys who knows I’m in a position where I’m being watched, by all sorts of media, by all sorts of people. I do whatever I can to send whatever message I can to the youth,” Cena explained. “That’s why I go around with words like ‘Hustle. Loyalty. Respect.’ On my chest. That’s why when I go into the ring, I do it for reasons I think are right,” Cena said. “To be nominated for a Kids’ Choice Award, to show that not only are the youth watching, but the youth are understanding the message I’m sending, that’s one of the greatest forms of flattery you can have.” Cena is up against soccer star David Beckham, F1 racer Lewis Hamilton, and middle-distance runner and double Olympic Gold Medalist Dame Kelly Holmes. Vote for The Champ now on the Kids’ Choice Awards site now through Sept. 30. The event will be Oct. 20 at the ExCeL London. “Regardless of how it works out, I’m just cool with them watching,” Cena said. “The people I’m most trying to send a message to are the youth of the world, because I don’t think enough sports figures, I don’t think enough role models, I don’t think enough celebrities really concentrate on that as much as I enjoy being myself. I always put forth a conscious effort to set a good example for the kids.”

It's just because the UK has no other sports stars other than cricket or rugby or whatever sports those uppities play.
