Did you notice under the Raw sign when the wrestlers names came up it said Raw Zone

I think that it's only called RAW ZONE during the second hour. I believe that it's so WWE can get a second check from USA, since RAW and RAW ZONE are considered two different shows.
I may be wrong on that, but I believe the reason is something similar to what's stated in the paragraph above.

It used to be called "warzone" up until 9/11 occured.

It's for ratings purposes, showing two different shows basically, helps get more ad revenue for the "second show". It's like how when it was RAW is WAR and WAR ZONE. For awhile I believe WAR ZONE had it's own opening.

War Zone used to get its' own intro. The whole point was that the 2nd hour could show edgier stuff. That doesn't hold true anymore.
