I never knew this happened...until now. Does anyone know if he was stripped of the title soon after? Because I know he is no where in history for holding any World Title belt of any kind.

It was never counted, I believe, because he cheated in some way to win the match.
Sorry, I didn't watch the video, but I have the match on tape and I remember it turning out that way.

I'm sure the decision was reversed because of Anvil interfering.

The best part of the match is at the start when they can't determine whether the kid Bret gave his glasses to was a boy or girl!!
"it must be one of those new generation haircuts, makes it hard to tell.."

Owen at various times had won the wwf chamiponship during the wrestlemania revenge tour shortly after wrestlemania X although he didnt remain champion for more than a few minutes or so although i know he did hold it over night at one point during that tour but was stripped of it but all of the stuff that happened on those tours was basically stircken from the record and ignored as brets title reign on tv stayed un touched as these all happened on house shows.

Exactly. They used to do stuff like this all the time at house shows to keep the interesting so people will keep coming to them. Now, they're just like watered down versions of Raw and SD. Also... does anyone know who was commentating with Gorilla Monsoon?

if you watch the video at the end you see 2 refs run into the ring. They let the official know what happens and he restarts the match with bret winning. Its on a Coliseum home video somewhere...one of the supertapes i believe
