So my dad called me the other night while I was at the mall. I had to hide my enthusiasm, because I'm a closet fan, but he won tickets to a Smackdown/ECW house show from a radio call in thing, on December 26th in Albany. I mean, keep in mind, I'm not an entirely huge fan of the brand, and there are a couple of things I know will happen that I'm dreading (for one, the World Heavyweight champion, among others), but you can't beat a free event, especially if you haven't been to one in a while. The last event I went to was the night after Wrestlemania 20, way up in the nosebleed section because we bought the tickets last minute after Benoit won the title.
I am sort of excited though, I mean, Smackdown and ECW do have a handful of good superstars among them. Looking forward to seeing CM Punk a lot. And house shows do tend to have amazing cards. One of my greatest live memories was Booker T vs. Kurt Angle for the WCW title... with referee Nick Patrick. Good stuff.
So I guess to keep this topic active and not spam, what are some of everyone else's best house show memories? Ever win tickets off of a radio show? Are you attending this show? Participation and discussion start... NOW.

yeah for my first show the tickets were won off the radio. My best memory was watching my dad(hes a once a month watcher)go crazy for like every wrestler and asking me afterwards what their names were.lol.

By far my favorite house show memory (ECW late-2006): I was in the second row with my friend. Stevie Richards was fighting someone, I completely forgot who. But throughout the entire match people would yell out "BWO" or "Stevie Richards is underrated." So when the match slows down a little and Stevie has his opponent in a headlock, at the top of my lungs I yell "Right to Censor!" Stevie stops, looks at me and mouths "What the ?" It got a pretty good laugh from the crowd too.

Never actually won tickets from a radio show or anything like that. Pretty much always bought them off a scalper that my step-dad knew.
As for my best house show memories, they've all been great. I was in attendance when Edge beat Jeff Jarrett for the Intercontinental title at The SkyDome, so that ranks right up there because not too many titles change hands at house show events.

Despite it being Smackdown, like you said, you can't beat free tickets, especially if they're within the first few rows.
I still go to the house shows up here in Maine when they come through, even though most of them are Smackdown, because I can always score seats within the first couple rows and it's always a fun time, no matter what the card.
Being out front is a totally different experience, I've noticed that.
I've had some awesome memories from house shows, and some excellent matches, stuff far better than we've seen on TV or even on Pay-Per-View.
My stand out house show was one in Augusta, Maine in June of 2003. Had an excellent card featuring all of Smackdown's best (at the time, Smackdown was better than Raw) and I had the absolute best seat in the arena, bar none. First row right on the corner, so I caught everyone a they were coming to and from the ring, I got so many hugs and high fives that night that I was set for life.
The show was headlined by a tag team match between Kurt Angle & Brock Lesnar against The Big Show and John Cena, on paper, it doesn't sound like anything special, but it was an excellent match.
Other highlights included Rey Mysterio vs. Billy Kidman for the Cruiserweight Title, and a triple threat tag team match for the Tag Team Championships, featuring Eddie Guerrero & Tajiri vs. The World's Greatest Tag Team vs. A-Train and Sean O'Haire and an incredible tag team match between The Basham Brothers and Chris Benoit & Rhyno.
In any case, have a great time at the show - it's the day after Christmas so all the guys ought to be pretty well rested and ready to go, should be a great time.

For some reason J12's post reminds me of some other amazing house show moments I've seen. Eddie Guerrero vs. Chavo Guerrero, some kind of stipulation involving them getting a tag team title shot, this was soon before Los Guerrero's split. Same show, John Cena vs. Rey Mysterio in a street fight. Not a Cena fan at all, but Rey made this a very entertaining match. I'm pretty sure they were both midcarders at the time, but Cena could've been in the main event, I'm not sure. Entertaining as hell match though. High flyers are a whole different type of awesome live. Still same show (the only reason I remember this show so well is because it was pretty recent) Arn Anderson and Dean Malenko were sitting near the entrance, and a bunch of people had left their seat to get right up to that area. They both looked very bored and despondant, and I got both of their attention by throwing up four fingers and yelling "HORSEMEN!" Unfortunately, that attention was a cold, annoyed glare from both Last one, before Luther Reigns debuted, he did a bunch of dark matches with the name Horshu or something like that. Rediculous gimmick. This was a whle back, but if I remember correctly, he was teaming with Raven against a team that was decently established at the time (might've been Team Angle, but like I said, I'm fuzzy on the details). Reigns got so much sarcastic face reaction during the match. Obviously no one knew who he was, but we were chanting his name and "LET'S GO HORSHU". I believe during one of the later matches someone started a "We want Horshu" chant too.

My dad won front row tickets on the radio back in 2000 I think it was and gave them to me and my sister. They actually had alot of pyro at the house show. Don't remember it all that well except the main event being The Rock vs Bossman in a street fight.I have been to quite a few house shows. They can be pretty fun.

I've never won free tickets to HS, but a friend of mine has. He also got a WWF magazine & Kane shirt with it. I've always really enjoyed going to house shows. They are much more laid back & the wrestlers can have fun. The best one I ever went to was in 2000 & it had an extremely stacked card I remember there being Angle/Triple H, Rock/Kane/Rikishi/Benoit in a fatal 4 way, & The Hardys & Lita/T&A in a 6 person tag. That was the night that Matt Hardy tried to run me over with his SUV. Good times.

I have won tickets before, but it was for Raw on Monday night in Lexington. The tickets were worse than the seats we already had, so we sold them outside of the arena and I used the money to buy a shirt.
As for House Show memories, my first wrestling event as a HS, the main event was for the WWF title, it was Stone Cold vs Mankind. The match was great.
Another one is when I got to sit in the 3rd row for the main event of RVD vs Kane in a cage match.

My buddy and I had 2nd row tickets to a Raw HS back in November of 2003. By the time the second match started (Mark Henry vs Tommy Dreamer) the people in the two seats in front of us hadn't shown up, so we asked the security guard if we could take the two front row seats. He told us to go ahead, so we sat there the rest of the night. Main event came around (Booker T & Goldberg vs Evolution) and being the huge Goldberg haters we were, we started heckling him non stop throughout the match. Highlight of the night came when we actually got him to flip us off halfway through the match. After they beat Evolution Book and Goldberg went around shaking hands and that stuff, Booker came over to us and gave us a big high five...Goldberg on the other hand, skipped completely over us.

Good Times...

Give them to someone who deserves them, and would be proud to go.
My favorite house show moment came last August. I had front row seats at the Canton Civic Center, and one of the matches involved Viscera. I started chanting "MEN ON A MISSION!" and randomly yelling "KICK HIS ASS, KING MABEL!" Coolest part was Vis laughed it off, and came over to me and gave me a high five after the match. Classic.

I won tickets for RAW house show last year December 28th from CW11. My favorite memory would be Hardys leg drop on Carlito from the ladder match for the ic title which also had Nitro in it. It was awesome. Best match I ever saw.

At one house show I was at two women started to get into an arguement. HHH got on the mic and said bitch sit down I'm trying to work here. The two people stopped but a few minutes later the one woman started up again. HHH grabbed the mic again and said just throw the bitch out. She was then escorted out of the arena by security. Good times.
