Its weird how he was able to do it on Heat perfectly and can't about 2 hours later... Assuming this wasn't intentionally done, I wouldn't say he was able to do it "perfectly"... @topic coincidentally I was watching the same video last night, but no I could not hear anything besides the commentators. The whole point was he was a bumbling superhero thats why he was doing that it wasnt purposely and the reason he died was because of the quick release pull which was so he could pull it early and fall like 5 feet like a bumbling dumb superhero.

I'm well aware that was the whole idea of the gimmick, it's just that it looked so dire I had to question it.

How exactly did it happen, did the harness snap or was it not attached properly when he stepped off or did something else go wrong?

How exactly did it happen, did the harness snap or was it not attached properly when he stepped off or did something else go wrong? Basically there was a mechanism that was supposed to cut him loose, that he would use when he got close to the ring, like Syxx said. This (and the Blue Blazer gimmick in general) was intended to make him look goofy, which was Vince's way of punishing him for turning down a storyline with Debra. Whether it opened early or something else I have no idea, but it seems like that's what was to blame.

I heard they used sailboat latches on him that could only hold 6 pounds, and Owen was 220 at the time. I also heard it would take less pressure then it does to fire a gun then it would have to release him. Pretty messed up.
