Well, since I got it 2 days ago, I guess it doesn't hurt reviewing it?
Ultimate Mortal Kombat, is yeah, a straight arcade emulation of UMK3, on the DS. It also has Puzzle Kombat, a mini-game from Deception. And most importantly, it has online play, or Wi-Fi for the Nintendo people.
Graphics:
For UMK3, it's good as I have expected, but what the problem is they look a little pixelated. They could have smoothen the sprites. But you'll get used to it. Nevertheless, it's perfect. For Puzzle Kombat, it's a little pixelated too, but if you have a good eye, you'll see it. So far, I think for both has good graphics.
8/10
Gameplay:
For Puzzle Kombat, I have no problems with it, but what aggravates me is the AI of UMK3. There were a lot of complaints for this, but hey, it's an emulation of UMK3, from the Arcade. What made me a little angry is that they left out the Difficulty for UMK3, only on Puzzle Kombat. So let's just say only the experts of MK can beat this game.
7/10
Sound:
Near perfect for both, a bit pitch though for UMK3.
9/10
Multiplayer:
Now this is the thing that makes you want to play it. Multiplayer. Midway has a good heart and gave us Wi-Fi. If you like both Pokemon and MK, get this. You can fight people from around the world, from your rank (Yes! Rankings!), or from your friends, but if you have a crap internet, you may suffer lag, yes, LAG. Oh, and if you don't have this game, and you have a friend with UMK, well, there is GAME SHARING! But your only limited to some characters.
9.5/10
Overall
I think Midway made this game a good job, Wi-Fi is god in here, but the AI for UMK3 is bad, MKII's is worse though. But hey, it's near-arcade perfect. For Puzzle Kombat, it's a fun game too, but it usually gets a bit boring after you play. Oh, did I mention you can play Wi-Fi in Puzzle Kombat?
8/10
Cost: $29.99, $32.00 after tax (depending on your state tax.).
Buy or Rent?: Buy.
Suck or doesn't?: Doesn't.
