I downloaded the demo knowing nothing about the game, and I just played it. I played on 'Casual' difficulty, so it was very easy, but it was a blast.
You basically are in a prison filled with a bunch of guys who are trying to stop you from getting to the exit. Which can mean only one thing: kill everyone in your way and find the god damn exit. The graphics are great, the controls are pretty good, nothing too jerky. I don't know if it's worth $60 but it's definitely fun for the 5 minutes I played it.
Just thought I'd recomend it so you can come to your own conclusions.

I heard this description of the Club the other day and thought it was VERY accurate. The Club is essentially PGR but with guns. Instead of trying to race around getting Kudos, you're just running through levels, which are essentially a track since there is in reality only one real effective way out. Killing guys isn't exactly the point of the game, the point is is to string together a combo as long as you can, the combo is the most important aspect. The Club is all about high score, not beating a game, which I really like. I miss the games that revolve around getting the highest score, trying to top yourself and your friends.

The Club is all about high score, not beating a game, which I really like. I miss the games that revolve around getting the highest score, trying to top yourself and your friends. Listened to Penny-Arcade's podcast, I assume? But yeah, I love it. The best thing to think of when playing this game is that this game is made by the guys that did PGR and Geometry Wars. I think Geometry Wars is a better example in terms of how the game works just because I never really liked PGR so it's not a good example for me. The enemies are essentially mindless and it's all about getting the high score. If you were someone who was obsessed with being the guy on your friends list with the highest score, then this game is the game for you. The graphics are flashy, the characters are nicely stylized, the announcer reminds me of playing Unreal Tournament, it's just fun. Don't go into the game expecting a deep story or in-depth shooting mechanics. You run and gun. You have lots of health, most of your opponents don't. You can carry way too many weapons than a normal human being should be able to. It's fun. Play the demo and find out for yourself.

Of course. It'd be better if they didn't go a year without doing one though
